Any of you have a doppler? I'm thinking of buying/renting one and trying to find out if there are any recommendations or advice!

Laura- I am happy for you that you passed your test!

I had an appointment with my ob/gyn this past Thursday and I asked about the glucose test and he said that he will not get it done until 26 weeks.
Is this test ran earlier if you have diabetes history in your family? I guess I am confused why the timing is so off.

My anatomy scan is on Friday, May 23rd. . . not quite sure if I want to know the gender, I shall see.

Another question to ask. . . I know that baby showers, most of the times, are not the surprise party any more. At least in my case, I know my mom is hosting a shower for me and she would like to do it in August. When are the rest of my October due date buddies having yours?

Laura - I'm so happy you passed your test! One less thing to worry about!

Netty - my glucose test isn't until later either, I think around 25 weeks. From what I remember they normally do them between 22 and 28 weeks... unless there is some reason to do so otherwise. I could be wrong though!

I have my u/s tomorrow!!! Hopefully we'll know the gender! It's quite early, but I'll be almost 18 weeks, so we'll see! Will post as soon as I know!

Morning ladies!

Flutters - I've been feeling something this past week but I'm nervous to say that it's the baby. There have been 2 distinct feelings - 1 is like the muscles are quivering and they happen about where the top of my uterus is. 2 - a distinct pressure feeling much lower that comes and goes.

Weather - Claudia and Laura we are so lucky (minus the allergies) for our weather out here this weekend.

Car seats - Shellie something I didn't know until we had our neice. The cute infant car seats that often come with the strollers only last up to about 24 lbs before you need ANOTHER rear facing car seat. With your twins that might last a while if they are smaller but for her it meant her mom and I had to buy new car seats at about 9 months. OH, but on the upside, at least for the infant car seats we didn't need doubles. With my neice, the car seat was always with her, so no matter who picked her up from day care they always had a car seat. Once she moved up to the second step, then we both needed car seats because now they stay fastened in the car and the baby goes in and out of it. Does that make sense?

Showers - I'm thinking mine will be early/mid August too. Mainly because the new school year starts in late August and it's always a super busy time for me, especially since I'll be preparing to for maternity leave a little more than a month later.

Oohh Caroline - so exciting, hopefully they'll be able to tell - I don't think it is too early at all!

Netty - I am having a shower in June/July but the only reason I am doing it that early is because of the twin factor - there is a good chance they arrive in August (hopefully September) and I could also be on bedrest at the end.

Holly - yep that is what I've heard too but there are just a couple out there that last up to more weight and fit onto certain double strollers - they are just really expensive! We plan to only have two infant car seats but will buy two additional bases so we don't have to move those from car to car. So exciting that you are having feelings - I thought I felt "flutters" a couple of weeks ago but lately NOTHING. I keep telling myself that everything I do feel is gas, hopefully I'll be able to tell when it is thre real thing. I am really hoping that I see them moving on my anatomy scan and can place the feeling with the movement.

It's a .......

.... GIRL!!!

DH was sure it was a boy and I think a little disappointed since we already have a girl, but don't get me wrong, he's still really happy of course! I'm thrilled!!

Everything looks great, measuring just right, and she was wiggling and waving all over the place! We even got a wonderful picture of her yawning!! So cute!

Che-Girl - My glucose test was done early because I have PCOS and had been on a drug called Metformin (aka Glucophage) that helps my body process insulin. But they took me off of the medicine at week 12 and just wanted to be sure my body was processing insulin OK without the drug. I think I may still have to do it again around weeks 24-26.

Showers/Registering: I'm getting SO excited to register and have showers! I have thrown so many showers in the past 5 years and now I'm really looking forward to my own! I know I'll register at Babies R Us, but I'm not sure about anywhere else.

Where are all of you going to register?

Amy - my gender scan is next Thursday (5/8)...I cannot wait! When is yours?

Tabitha - My job has me up on my feet all day (and night sometimes) and definitely after a long day, my ankles are a bit swollen. Not too bad though but it is uncomfortable.

Shellie - I have been having the same stroller/car seat issue. I thought about a triplet stroller since I have a 2 year old also but they are > $1000. I went to Buy Buy baby 2 days ago and there was only one stroller that allowed you to have 2 car seats in it - and it was one of the Peg Perego strollers that costs $1000 - yikes. ANd I have had the doppler since 11 weeks - had one with DD too. At first it was hard to find the HB but now it's pretty easy.

Norcal - You're right. We did the same thing with DD, we had multiple "base" units and I car seat that we passed around. The Peg Perego car seats last up to 30 lbs - my daughter stayed in it rear facing until 14 months at which point she was too long, but still not too heavy. Once we switched to the convertible seats, we had to buy 3 - one for me, one for DH and one for my mother. Ouch.

ANd as far as brest pumpms - you can get the Medela breast pump for $100 less than the price in the store by going on line to Hackley Healthcare - totally worthwhile (shipping is free).

I have felt a few meovements here and there - not so much kicks as you can feel them turning around. It's hard to explain in words, but you will all know what I mean soon.

Caroline - congrats on your baby girl!

Congrats Caroline - we'll have to keep a list of pink or blue - I think you are the first of the Octobers! Did they give you a for certain or we think and are pretty sure?

Those Peg Perego things must be made of gold - but that is the ones I have found too!
