People think my husband and I look alike. (Similar coloring and facial features.) And my mom and dad looked like siblings when they got married in their early 20s. Perhaps picking a mate who resembles you is the ultimate form of narcissism?

Wow! Marie, thanks for that "soapbox" speech you gave. I'll check out the ERGO. I wasn't planning on the Baby Bjorn. Babies always look so terribly uncomfortable in those things. Does the ERGO have ample thigh room? I'm asking in case my baby has chunky thighs. The Baby Bjorn must be for skinny babies b/c those wonderful fat baby thighs always look like sausages being squeezed out of their casings to me.

Is "towhead" regional slang? I'm from the South and this is a new one to me. I'm going to have to google this, because I can't for the life of me see the connection. (obsess much?...LOL!)

Oh, and I VERY much like both names and agree that they do have their own personalilties. Can't wait to hear if she's a Charlotte or a Carina!

I THINK I've been feeling the baby move, but I'm not 100% sure. I work nights, and it seems as though late in the night when I'm at work is the only time I feel any flutters. It's very slight though, I wonder if it's just gas? I wish it were more obvious.

Rennae ~ I think you think you're feeling the baby, then you are. We're still on the earlier side of feeling our babies for first time moms, but that doesn't mean we're not feeling them. It just means that women who've had these feelings before know how to recognize them earlier. It was just this last week/week and a half that I've been sure it was the baby. I say just keep paying attention and when you really do feel gassy-type feelings, as yourself "does this feel the same as the other feelings I've felt?"...that's how I did it. Of course it helps to know exactly where the baby is...thank you doppler!!!! But, I know what you mean. I can't wait to REALLY feel the baby kick and roll like we will later. Now my sensations are just a light "tap, tap" kind of feeling. I've read things that say that babies do become more active at night, so I bet that's got to be it

This is what I found when I Googled "towhead" ~ "is a person -- usually a young person -- who has very blond hair, almost flaxen or pale yellow. 'Tow' has for centuries been used as a name for flax or hemp prepared for spinning."

So, now the mystery of how "tow" = blonde has been solved!!

Ok ladies, I believe I felt definite kicks 2x yesterday, once when I was driving, it kinda freaked me out, because up until then I've only been feeling flutters every now and then, and I didn't feel any movement before the kick, and then when I was laying down w/ my laptop looking at cribs. I bought Baby Bargains and after reading about pine cribs being easily scratched and dinged, every review I read about the crib we originally decided on said that was the one thing everyone hatedabout the crib, so I started looking for another crib. Well DH found another one that he likes because the shape of the crib kinda looks like the bedroom set we just ordered.

That's so cool that you felt real kicks yesterday!! I can't wait to feel those.

Isn't "Baby Bargains" awesome?!?! I feel like it is going to save me so much time and frustration now that I can skip hours of internet research. And they give great websites to chech out consumer reports and safety info. I just finished going through it last night. I've got several flags and just about every page has some sort of highlighted area. I plan to bring it with me when I go shopping.

You're bedroom is going to be so stylish!! I like the new crib. Happy shopping!

I'll be ordering my nursery furniture when I'm in TN visiting my mom the week after next instead of waiting til August like I had orginally planned.

Danielle posted a ? about birthing classes on We're Pregnant, but I want just wanted to get my girls opinions. I have pre-conceived notions about birthing classes, which just may be ignorance on my part. I think and have always thought that birthing classes mostly try to steer people away from using any meds during delivery and I'll be the first to say I'm all for anything that is going to relieve pain or provide some comfort.
What exactly do birthing classes do?
Are any of you taking birth classes?
Kim & Marie-Did you take birthing classes w/ your prev pregnancies and are you going to take one this pregnancy?

Chandra,

I dont think the birthing class steers you away from meds, but just helps you with breathing techniques and how to prepare for the arrival. Sometimes they also teach infant cpr. I am 100% for meds and NOBODY will ever sway me from that idea!!!LOL
You have already given birth and know what to expect so it would probably be a waste for you. I really just want it for breathing techniques and to do a tour of the hospital.

Chandra, you are reading my mind! Thanks for voicing these concerns.

Danielle makes a good point, too. But part of me doesn't want to know too much going into the birthing process or I'll be completely freaked out. I think I just want a hospital tour (which our hospital will do with or without a birthing class) and a ton of drugs. Is that wrong?

Looking forward to hearing what the other veteran moms have to say....

The nurses taught me the breathing techniques at the time of the delivery because dr wasn't there yet, so I couldn't push even though I really wanted to. I have no idea where I got that idea about the birthing classes, but I have always had it. The class I definitely am going to take this time is the breastfeeding class because I didn't have a very good breastfeeding experience with my oldest, and it left me scarred so I didn't even attempt to try it with my youngest.

My specialist called and my bloodwork came back (the second trimester from the quad screen) and my risk for downs is now 4 out of 5. My anatomy scan was scheduled for next Thursday but she wants me in first thing Monday morning for the scan and ammnio. I am devastated and am now wondering how to survive the weekend as well as the 10-14 days for my results.

So sorry about your quad screening results. Keep the faith that Monday all will be well with baby & the worrying can be over. We are only given what we can handle, and no matter what, your baby will give you your strength. Good Luck Monday.

My sentiments exactly about the drugs...LOL I did the hospital tour already because I wasn't even sure if I wanted to deliver at this hospital. I wanted to deliver at the hospital where I delivered both my boys, but it's just too far from where I live now.

I always thought birthing classes drilled that drugs were bad, 'Say No To Drugs' ...LOL, and you wouldn't be able to feel when it's time to push, which for me wasn't true at all. The epidural does wear off, and you do start to feel those contractions. The only thing I didn't feel was when the dr did an episotomy on me, I didn't feel that at all. I just saw her stitching me up, and I asked her what was she doing...LOL

Lisa, I'm sorry about the quad screen results. But I'm hoping you'll be one of those lucky ladies who has the scan and amnio and find out that the results from quad screen were wrong.
