On one hand I'm worried that they will reschedule my appointment (and I really want to go), on the other hand I don't want them to be unprepared for a little 6 weeker.

I would definately tell them that you didn't ovulate until CD28. They still may want to see you at 6 weeks, which would be great, but at least you won't be disappointed if you don't see what they expect. It doesn't hurt to give them too much info! BTW - you can sometimes see the heartbeat at 6 weeks, too.

I agree with Am, it is important to know that you're almost 2 weeks later than they think you are. It is the timing of the average person having a 28 day cycle and ovulating on day 14 (on average) that they use to figure out when you're due. I also totally understand why you would not want to say anything that would make them want to change the u/s date. I'd call, maybe, a week before and tell them what's up. My first u/s is this Friday and I'll be 6w4d then. I was told to fully expect to see the heartbeat at that time. Explain when you call that you do not want to reschedule your u/s, that you want to come in as scheduled. Just be firm. I'm sure it will be fine. Good luck!!

Linda ~ Wonderful news!! That's so awesome that you get to have u/s every 2 weeks. That must be very reassuring. Those heartbeats sound good and strong too

I'm going to talk to my doctor about the idea of renting a fetal doppler. Here's a site I found if anybody's interested...

Fetal Doppler for Monitoring at Home - BabyBeat

I know...talk about obsessive!

Just making the Nov. Due Date!

Hello Ladies,
I am new here. I originally found the forum when I was in my 2ww and looking for clomid support. My registration took awhile to come through and now I can take part in the Due Date Buddies forum as I got a last week. I saw my doctor today and I am getting in under the wire with an EDD of November 31!

It has been a pleasure to read the posts and see all of the support this forum offers everyone. I appreciate the williness to be authentic about feelings and frustrations.

Congrats for all the!

Welcome prettybear!! Congrats on your bfp!

Am & infertilitynovice, thanks. I was thinking that's what I was probably going to do. I couldn't decide if I wanted to call and tell them or just show up for the appointment and tell them then. I'll just have to let them know when I call that I'm a freaking basket case and I NEED to have the appointment! I'll be 6w2d for the appointment.... The days are crawling!

Prettybear!! Lovely to have you with us! Your ticker is really cute with the 5 babybeans on it Whoa! That would be some crazy news, huh? You know "Jon & Kate + 8" on TLC? If so, please excuse the waste of an explanation, but if not...They had a set of twins, then about 3 yrs later they decided to try again. They did medicated IUIs and ended up with 6!!! They are the most precious little toddlers I've ever seen! I've decided that on the days when I feel like I can't handle my one little darling, I'm going to watch this show for inspiration. If they can handle 6 at a time, I can handle one, darnit! Anyway, what an exciting possiblity! If you haven't seen the show before, I highly recommend it...super cute!

Leah ~ I think your plan is a good one. It is your appointment afterall! Like I said before, my OB fully expects to see the heartbeat at 6w4d, so they should totally be able to see yours at 6w2ds! Good luck!

mommy2Nathan_TTC#2 - Good Luck!!!

infertilitynovice and Leah00 - Don't freak out if you can't see the heartbeat at a little over 6 weeks. It's not uncommon not to see it then. Hopefully you will, but it's not always a certainty.

Lucky dog Steph!!!!! I'm so jealous! But, I'm also very happy for you! You must be sooo excited...please, please let us know your good news when you get the chance!

So a step-mom strike update (I'm assuming from the lack of responses, that no one agrees with my strategy...totally fine...to each her own, but...)...it seems to have worked, for now anyways. I didn't do anything that I would have normally done as a mother yesterday. He did ask for homework help, which I did gladly, because I don't want his school work to suffer just because I'm on strike. So anyways, this morning just minutes before it was time for him to go to the bus stop I asked him what he was going to have for lunch. He said, "I don't know, I guess I forgot to make my lunch." From this statement, I guessed that my point was made because he didn't say, "What? You didn't make my lunch?", so I asked him about the situation. I asked him why he thought I was doing this. Then, before he could answer, I asked him if he thought I was doing it because I was mad at him. He shook his head "no" and said, "You're doing this to show me how much you do for me and that I don't treat you nice." WOW!! He got it! Well, of course he did, he's a smart kid. We talked about it and, I explained that I'm not his mother, but I do all the jobs his mother would do (not really, but jobs A mother would do) and that I deserve some respect for that. I asked him how he would feel if he asked me to come watch a skateboard trick (something I do often) and I turned and yelled at him, "I don't have to do that, because you're not my REAL son!"...of course that would be a terrible thing to say. He agreed. I explained that even if it is true, to use that truth to hurt the other person is horrible and shouldn't be done. I told him that we may not be blood related but we're family, even if I'm not his mom, and sometimes we'll get mad at each other...that's what happens in a family...but disrespectful and purposely hurtful attacks are not okay on either end. It isn't anymore okay for him to tell me to "shut up" than it is for me to say it (which I don't, but he does). I explained that everything I do is because I want him to grow up and be able to handle living in the world on his own. I explained that a parent's job is not to be liked, it is to prepare their children for life. Of course being liked along the way is nice, but not always possible. So anyways, he really seemed to get my point this time and I think it will last a little while. There's so much more I do for him then was shown in this little 24 hour strike, but I really feel like an impact was made this time.

infertilitynovice - I think as long as your stepson got your point but still knows you love him, it was a good thing. You obviously know kids will manipulate you in any way they can to get what they want.
I also have 2 "future" stepsons and while I usually get lots of love and respect from them they have their moments when they try me and I have also heard "you're not my mom." It is hurtful but I just try to remember they are little and they are just trying to get what they want. It may take many years but one day your stepsons will appreciate everything you've done for them.
