Kristen-Shes just perfect!! and so beautiful! I think she looks so feminine, with and without the bow, too. (I was just going to ask about how you got the bow to stick, when you told, so thank you! I'd heard about KY, but I didnt really trust it.) Do they really stick? Whats "the warmer?" that you put it under?
Enemas= I bought one before DS for possible use, as the teacher of our prenatal class talked them up, but didnt use it. DH said there wasn't any of that kind of action during labor. This time, I remember when I was at home, in early labor (which might not have been super early, since I arrived to the hospital at a 6) I had some diarreah. Good thing I was still at home, and thus, epidural free. If I had had an epidural at that point, it would have come out on the table, Im sure, since you cant get up after its in. When things start moving along, try to go to the bathroom before you get pain meds. I think during labor though, thats the last thing on your mind. truly. whoever was asking about being the same after labor- Im going to have scars forever this time. I tore in 2 directions, and with the stitches out, and the infection, and delayed healing, its not going to be pretty. Last time everything was fine, with time. This time, I think its going to take MORE time. I think that part of the body bounces back pretty well. |

Kristen ~ Your daughter is just beautiful! Thank you for sharing her pictures with us. I'm so glad to hear that breastfeeding is going so well for you. I hope my experience is as good as yours.
Thanks for the advice about bouncing back into shape after delivery. I'm sure that many would think that is a silly concern, but like everybody says, "EVERYTHING" changes when you have a baby...just wondering if the bod is ever the same. Chandra ~ LOL! Yeah, I'm feeling a bit impatient myself. I'm going to talk to the doctor at my appt on Tuesday about stripping my membranes the following week if nothing happens before then. I'd almost like to do it this coming week (39 for me) but my mother is flying up and would like to be here if possible. I figure if I go on my own then FANTASTIC but I won't push anything til she's in town. This will be her only grandchild from birth. Fingers crossed that I'll go on my own sooner though!

Hey Ladies- After six very long days in the hospital, we are finally home with our perfect little girl! I'll fill you in on all the details later (the 24+ hours of labor, followed by a c-section, etc.), but we JUST got home and we want to eat our non-hospital food dinner while the little piglet is asleep. XOXO

Eggy ~ I'm so happy to hear from you and just dying to know everything. I hate to hear that you were in the hospital so long and I hope all is well. Take care and let us know everything just as soon as you're rested!
Okay, so I think my child hates me...she's killing me! I don't know what the heck she presses on sometimes but I am getting some wicked sharp pains in my hoo-ha region and I'm pretty sure the pressure is going to send me right over the edge. Ben and I have talked and both agree that we're going to ask the doctor who delivers this little monster to spank her bottom twice for being so mean to me! LOL! ![]()

Melissa - I know exactly how you feel, I guess it's when Avery stretches or something - it's a horrible pain!! It's worse than the contractions that I have!! I think our little girls are just all out of room in there!!
Eggy - so glad you are home!! Well, I only have three more days until my induction, I can't believe it!! I'm getting pretty nervous. I'm also beginning to worry about people's feelings getting hurt when they get kicked out of the room for the actual delivery. My mother, sister and DH are all going to be in there - which is PLENTY if you ask me. But I know my mother-in-law and stepmother both want to be in there as well. That's just TOO many people, plus I know my OB only wants 3 people at the most in there. I really wish everyone would just show up after delivery!! For those of you who already delivered, how did you handle this? For those who haven't, what's your plan?

Heather - we are feeding Jayson Similac Isomil Soy Formula. They had him on Enfamil Lipil in the hospital and he was spitting up alot after every feeding. I told the ped. at the hospital that my other two children were soy babies but they wanted me to try him for a few days....when the ped check him for the last time at the hosiptal she told me I could go ahead a switch his formula to Soy because he was spitting up so much and his stomach was gurgling. So we stopped on the way home from the hospital to get Similac Soy...he is doing so much better now. He doesn't spit up much at all.
I know this is my third child....but I'm still amazed with him. Babies are such a miracle. I'm trying to win the lottery so that I don't have to go back to work How will I ever be able to leave him? For those of you going back to work, will you be leaving your babies with private sitter, in home sitter or family. I really wish I had a family member to leave him with.

Rennae ~ I'm sorry to hear that your little girl is mean to her mommy too. Why are you being induced again? I'm drawing a blank. You are so lucky to know that she'll be here in 3 days...I'm in limbo h*ll right now...I have no idea how much longer I'm going to have to feel like this before she decides to be born...lucky dog!
And as far as people in the room goes, I guess in a way we are lucky b/c we're all by ourselves here. My mom is flying up and wants to be in the room with DH and I. I have no problem with that as long as she behaves herself. If she starts getting nervous, fidgety, or flustered, I'm going to ask her to leave. I've already told her that so it won't come as a surprise when/if the time comes. There is no way in h*ll I would let my MIL or anyone else, besides my bestfriend, in the room had we stayed closer to home. She came with us to pick out my wedding dress and my mom still talks about how that should have been "our" moment. I get along fine with her, but she seems to feel this subconscience need to compete with my mother whenever they are around each other. I don't need that kind of drama while I'm trying to squeeze a watermelon out of a kiwi size opening. Okay, enough about my situation...you've got an easy out...there is only 3 people allowed in the room and your MIL and stepmother aren't part of that 3...easy. If you are uncomfortable telling them this, then DH needs to...period. It is his job to take care of you and you do not need the added stress of trying not to hurt feelings. He can just explain the rule and that this is something you are going to share with your family. They can visit while you are in labor (if that is something you would want) and they are more than welcome to come into the room once you are ready for them after the birth. This is your moment (well, DH's too) and you should not compromise what you want or don't want in order to save feelings. I don't know about your husband, but generally men aren't known for the confrontation/conversation skills...if he seems squimmish to do this for you, the simply tell him that you are doing your job for this family and he needs to grow a pair and do his job. Sorry...I just have really strong feelings about this type of topic. Whatever you do, don't feel bad for wanting it to just be you, your DH, and your family. And I hope your mother and sister know what a special thing it is that they are allowed in the room at all. Again, this is your time. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Melissa - mainly I'm being induced because they think Avery is a little on the big side. I'll be 39 weeks the day I go in for induction, and my OB is worried about me going much longer than that. I'm very short, and I guess the doc is worried I won't be able to get her out vaginally if she's too big. Plus, I really want to be induced. This way, I get to hand pick the nurse and anesthesiologist I want taking care of me that day - I'm a little spoiled by working in L and D!! Two of my dearest friends are coming in on their day off to be my nurses!! And, I'm a control freak. The thought of just going into labor - especially my water breaking, freaks me out!! Anyway, I'm very happy I have an exact date (unless she comes before Wednesday...). I'm sorry the waiting is killing you - but I'm sure Marlee will be along anytime now. Are you still contracting??
We'll handle the family thing, I'm just worried about hurt feelings. Ultimately, I know it's about DH and I, but I'm a bit of a people pleaser...

Hi gals- Jacob David is here! On Friday I went in for amnio and his lungs were mature so they took him at 11:52 am. He weighed 7 pounds 2 oz. and was 18 inches long. They had NICU in the operating room for his arrival but luckily they were not needed and he was able to spend all the time with me. His echocardiogram was done and the heart issue was no longer an issue. He does have a hole in his heart which is not due to his down syndrome but actually pretty common and usually clears up within a few months. I started breast feeding when he was a couple of hours old and he has had absolutely no issues in swallowing. He is already home with me today. Here is a couple of pictures of him-
