Kristin, what a manly little baby boy you have! Gonads!!! Have you already spoken to your husband? He must be over the moon. Was it a normal u/s machine? And was it an over-the-belly u/s or transvag?

I was shocked that we were able to get a clear u/s image through my belly on Friday (especially since my stomach feels so distended and bloaty), but I also asked for a transvag. u/s. That picture was even clearer. I'm happy to be wanded if it means seeing more of le bebe.

Meanwhile, although I haven't gained any weight on the scale in the last two and a half weeks, I feel like I totally look pregnant because everything has moved to my front. (My mom just got back from a two week vacation and definitely sees a difference.) I can't wait for my NT scan results; if all goes well, we'll go public -- and let people know I'm not just randomly porking up.

How is everyone else doing with the weight gain thus far? I'm up about 5 pounds from the day of my ER. (As of today, I'm 11 weeks.)

I think it's more common to misinterpret a girl that later becomes a boy, versus vice versa. I could even see the two tiny circles (gonads) and a bright white line in between - it was kind of funny/cute, actually! Who knows? You might be able see the gender on Wednesday, too!

Kristen ~ HOW AWESOME!!! I've never heard of anyone finding out the sex so early. When will you go public?

We've pretty much already gone public. I'm not annoucing it outright, but, for example, a neighbor asked me the other day about substitute teaching/going back full-time, and I told her that I had planned to, but we are expecting now so I'll hold off for a while. So, if I'm asked a question that the pregnancy relates to directly, then I'll mention it. For weight?...as of yesterday I've gained 1/2 a lb so far, but like you Eggy, my body has changed A LOT already!! I'm trying really hard to get out of this first trimester without any real weight gain. Since I'm already about 30lbs overweight, it is recommended that I only gain 15-20lbs during the pregnancy. I'm not sure that is possible, but I'm going to try really hard. I hope that I can stay around 10lbs for the second trimester. I know that a great deal of the weight comes the last month or so b/c of extra water weight, so I won't worry too much about how much I gain at the very end, but the less I gain before then, the better. It is so tricky, but this is what I get for allowing myself to gain the weight in the first place. Thank goodness the weather has changed enough to allow me to start walking again.

Did anybody see my question about the age of our babies? I'm still wondering about that.

I think as far as "age" goes with u/s there are better angles for measuring crown to rump length. My RE moved the u/s probe around to get the angle he wanted before placing the cursors on to measure. He only did one actual measurement. Right now crown to rump measurements are not an exact science and I was told they can vary about 5 days either way without being an issue.

Melissa-Your u/s picture show's the weeks and days by your due date, not how big the baby is measuring. That won't change unless they change your due date. I was told the size can vary by 7 days ahead or behind. Hope that helps.

I had a thought for the bleeding episodes I've had, since its been on the 15th for the past 2 months, I was wondering if it could possibly be some form of my period. I don't know if the maternal fetal medicine OB is doing my u/s today or just a tech. If it's the OB I was going to ask him. I know it probably sounds crazy, I guess Im just trying to come up with a reason for the bleeding, since they never see anything on the u/s. Has anyone else felt any fluttering in their bellys, so far I have felt it 2x.

Chandra ~ thanks for the size/age info...

I believe you're the first of us to go for the NT scan. Please tell us what happened today when you get the chance. I'm really interested in hearing about what the doc says about having a "pseudo" period. I've heard that it is possible, but I don't know why or how.

And how cool to maybe have already felt flutters? I would imagine that is possible too. I think if you think you're feeling something, then you are. By this point we all know if something is different or not...gosh knows we pay close enough attention to our bodies to know!!

A BOY!!!!Yeah I am so excited for you,, is that what you thought you were having? And it is true when they detect boy early it is more accurate than them thinkin girl!! COngrtas,, you are well on your way to one very healthy pregnancy!
Danielle- it does depend on were the put the cursor,, in the same week I was at 6w3 and then 2 days later i was 7w1 and it doesnt matter unless there is a weeks or more difference,, congrats on the wonderful U/S!! I am so glad you got to hear the HB!
CHandra-Good luck with the NT let me know how it is I am not sure if I am gonna do that test I might just do the AFP test,,, not sure yet!!
as for weight I actually lost 5lbs with the m/s and bed rest,, I think that I lost all muscle!!but I am starting to look very preggers,, evrything id out front its crazy!!
Last night was a rough night me and DH just couldn't get along which is so odd for us and my bleeding came back and I was just a mess and he couldnt put up with my crazieness,, I really need to learn to control it I usualy am never that way but ever since I have been preggers watch out!!

Chandra - since this is your 3rd child, it's likely you can interpret the flutters more accurately than us first-timers. That's most likely your little one kicking/moving! How exciting! I cannot wait to experience that myself. I hope all goes well on your NT scan today.

The NT scan was a breeze, it was strictly a belly u/s, no more dildo cam...yeah!!!! I had went online and looked up NT scan, and as far s the measurements, anything over 2.5mm is a cause to do further testing, I was paying attention when she was doing the measurements, and they were all like 1.0 something. So I don't think I would need to addl testing, and everything looks good. Baby's HB was 155, baby was very active, I don't think he/she was still for one moment, and measuring at 12w2d. And apparently very possible for me to still have a period, but there's no way to tell. I was told sometimes some women continue to have their periods through the 1st trimester cuz hormones are still crazy and haven't regulated yet. So I'm waiting for May 15th to roll around to see if I have any bleeding, unless my hormones get in check since I'll be in the 2nd trimester then, and I don't have any bleeding.

4. How much weight have you gained so far? 2 lbs - I started underweight at 118, so I'm encouraged to be gaining.

Oh, forgot to mention that my b/w on Friday was good - Prog was 45 and Estradiol was over 1000. So I'm down to two prog supps a day and two vivelle estrogen patches a day. I drop to one patch tomorrow. They'll check again Friday and I hope to come off of both supplements... I'll be off prednisone next Wed. It'll be nice to stop thinking about all these things!

I have a regular OB visit, May 12, and I have a level 2 u/s scheduled for June 16, I'll find out the gender then, unless I have bleeding on May 15th, then I'll have another u/s then. Were you able to see the gonads on your own, or did they point them out to you. I was looking but I didn't see anything...LOL I didn't want to ask, I knew I was only going to hear "its too early to tell"
