Newest Beta

Yay! I've got one heck of an over achiever in my belly right now...my 3rd beta at 23dpiui is 6843. No wonder some symptoms started so early. According to the beta database the median 23dpo beta number reported is 2283 for a single pregnancy and for twin pregnancies it is 5194. I have a doubling time of 44 hours. My previous doubling time was 31 (?) hours. I think it is normal for it to start to slow down, and I'm still well above the median and above the desired 48 hour doubling time...I'm feeling pretty good about my numbers. I think I can hold out til my u/s next Friday. I'm also feeling even more confident that I'll get good news next Friday.

infertilitynovice - Congrats on your beta. Those numbers are similar to my first pregnancy and it was a singleton, but you never know! Do you have an OB yet? My OB is in Nashua and I love her and her whole office. She's associated with SNHMC which I like SO MUCH MORE in every way than St. Joseph's. If you want, I can give you more details. (BTW, my EDD is 11/12. I like this site for calculating due dates. I use 14 days before the IUI as date of last period to get the right conception date.)

This thread is hopping! I can't keep up since I only get to check it in the evenings.

So far we have only told my mom and a good friend that I work with. Yesterday after my u/s when I told my mom that it was twins she begged me to let her tell my brother (and as a result, the rest of the family). I said sure. My brother's having twins too, and he's pretty excited for me. My DH hasn't told his family yet and I haven't told my father and his side of the family or any of our friends. We will soon. I was waiting for
the first u/s and a heartbeat to tell anyone. Now I can tell them twins!

Am ~ I'd love to know the name of your OB! I am already working with an OB in Nashua (she did our IUI), but she just makes me feel bad every time I see her. I love her staff, but I don't think she's for me. I'm definitatly planning to use SNHMC b/c their L/D center seems progressive and I've become used to that hospital since that's where I go for betas and my HSG. There's a Dartmouth Hitchcock group that has midwives that I'm interested in talking to, but my current OB works on call hours with the group and may end up delivering my baby anyways. I don't know what to do about it and I don't have anyone here to ask, so yes, please help me!

Hi everyone,
so here I am, guiltily joining the Nov due date thread, and hoping that no one minds if Im an honorary member. My real due date is in Oct (27th), but all the ladies from the Feb IVF team, who I know and love are now due in Nov, and turning up here, with dates a few days after mine, and I dont know many of the Oct due date buddies. So... is it ok with everybody?
My story is that we are pregnant w twins, but are still waiting to see how our little baby B does. They both measured right on at the 7 week ultrasound, and had great heartbeats, but Baby B's gestational sac was on the small side. So... w much suspense, we must wait until tuesday for another look, to see if our little baby B is going to catch up. We hope and pray for the best, and are very happy to be pregnant at all.

for the person asking about symptoms, I have nausea and heartburn that comes and goes, the appetite of a horse, and some mild headaches that respond to tylenol. I also crave anything salty or citrus.

just two other things...

a.I'd love to hear some of the baby names people have chosen,

b.how long are people waiting to tell the masses about their pregnancies? A few select friends and family members have been told, but Im trying to decide when to send out an email and post a ticker on our blog.

DH and I have told just about everyone. We really didn't want to, but all of our family and friends knew we did IVF, so of course they all asked and waited for us to tell them one way or the other. I get nervous about people knowing, what if it jinxes us? The worry just never stops.

Ughh, careful what you wish for. I wished the same thing a couple weeks ago and now I'm sooo sick. I have never have morning sickness like this. It's ALL DAY!!! Can't wait for it to be over but it is worth every second of it.lol

You can absolutely be here with us. Glad to have you. My due date is Nov.4 but with twins I'll probably be in Oct. like you. I'm having my 2nd u/s on Tues. and can't wait. Last u/s showed twins that measured good but heartbeats were low. 76 & 91. Just want to see those alot faster next time.

Sweetpea - Welcome!

Infertilitynovice -
I go to Women's Care of Nashua. They are located adjacent to SNHMC. They are attached by walkway near the birthing center which was very convenient when I showed up at the office in September dialated and in contractions. They have three doctors and one nurse practitioner. The doctors are Karen Maynard, Karen Witt, and Melissa (pronounced May-LE-sa) Martinez-Adorno. The nurse practitioner is Karen Flaherty. Lots of Karens! My doctor is Martinez, the only non-Karen. I like her a lot. She's very personable and really cares and wants to help me. When we were first investigating infertility and found out that my husband can not make sperm, she was very supportive and willing to talk to me as much as need, to my husband, and my husband's doctor if we were confused about what he told us. She called me when I called the office and told them I was pregnant again and talked at length about our plan. She was so nice and caring when I lost our baby. Her plan is to see me every 2 weeks between 20-24 weeks, but she is perfectly happy if I want to go in once per week. She said that if I feel more comfortable going in more often that that, she is okay with that too. She's willing to see me after hours if work becomes a problem, though probably on days when she's on call would be easier for her. If I am constantly calling the office with concerns she said she would not feel bothered and just wants me to feel comfortable. She's taking a cautious approach to this pregnancy.
I have seen the other doctors there. Karen Maynard did my HSG 2 years ago and I saw her when I was in the hospital when I lost the baby in September. I think she is also very nice and I feel comfortable with her. I met Karen Witt for the first time when I went into the office in September with light spotting and heaviness in my lower abdomen. She examined me, gave me an emergency ultrasound and admitted me to the hospital. Throughout the whole thing she was efficient, caring, sensitive and although I was scared to death, I felt comfortable with her. She is the one who called my husband at work and told him what was happening and to come to the hospital. She visited me in the hospital afterward to see how I was doing.

Typically I see my doctor every other visit and the nurse practitioner every other visit. Karen Flaherty (NP) is nice and I like her, but I like the doctors better, especially in my current situation. I asked Dr. Martinez if she wasn't available who would deliver the baby, and it would be one of the other doctors in the office. she said that it's rare that she doesn't deliver her own patients. I was comfortable with that.

SNHMC was a good place to be when I lost the baby, too. I was admitted to the birthing center immediately. They put a leaf with a rain drop on the door to my room so that people would know that it was not a "happy" room. They were very kind and sensitive to our worries. After the baby was delivered, they took digital and regular pictures. (The baby died during delivery and we held him afterward). The next day, they brought a beautiful box in to us that was tied with a ribbon. Inside were the digital photos of the baby dressed in a sweater and hat, the sweater and hat they dressed him in, clay footprints, a tape measure that was the length he was when he was born and a few other momentos. They developed the regular photos and told me that I could come and get them afterward if I wanted to. They would keep them for five years if I didn't want to right away. The nurses were very nice and accomodating. They offered to switch me to the regular part of the hospital after I lost the baby if I was uncomfortable in the birthing center, but the people were so nice to me that I decided to stay. The hospital even had the name of a local funeral home that cremeated my baby for no charge because the owner and his wife also once had a loss. That made decision making afterward a little easier.

Anyway, the point of that long depressing story is that my doctors and SNHMC were very good in one of the most difficult times of my life. I am very grateful that I went there. If you have any other questions, let me know.

We just found out yesterday and we've already told a lot of people. I wanted to keep it a secret for awhile but I was too excited. Mine and DH's family all know, a few people at my work know (I had to tell my boss!), two of my friends know, and every single person at DH's work knows. He's a little excited.

We picked out names a long time ago.

Girl- Paige Marie

Boy- James Devlin (I want it to be Devlin James, but hubby won out)
