I am so totally freaking out. The last two weeks I have been taking a sandwich for my lunches with deli meats, and yesterday I had a juicy hotdog. Well today while surfing the web I found out that I am not supposed to be eating any deli meats and hot dogs. I am so shocked I don't even know what to say. I don't even know why I have never looked it up before. I just assumed alcohol and caffeine were the no no foods. Sorry I just had to let my frustration out.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. The worry with deli meats and hot dogs are the risk of listerosis and the risk is much higher if the meat is left out at room temp or the hot dog is not eaten immediately after cooking. If you keep your deli meat in the fridge nice and cold the risk is rsmaller (the real risk comes from deli counters and resturants like jersey mikes with the meat out all the time). Plus I read somewhere that occasional hot dogs you cook yourself are fine (of course not too often because of the nitrates which aren't good for anyone pregnant or not). I had a hot dog the night befor I found out I was pregnant and haven't worried too much about it.

I know having me tell you not to worry doesn't help too much cause I am in the exact same boat as you! I freak out over everything. I am a veterinarian and have been treating a cat with toxoplasmosis at my hosptial for the last 3 days! I didn't find out I was pregnant til the last day of treating him. Anyhow needless to say I totally freaked out and called my on call ob-gyn (not my regular doc), who really had less information about it than I did. I tell myself I have gone 20 years of working with cats and was still toxo negative when I got tested 6 months ago, no way I would be unlucky enough to pick it up now, right?

I have been looking out for a freak out buddy maybe you could be it. We could freak out about every little thing we did that day it would be theraputic (sic?). Anyhow good luck and try not to worry (like I can talk).

Many blessings.
Thanks Smoothmelo for making me feel alittle better. I realise now that there is not too much I can do as the meat has already been consumed but I am going to try and be more careful. I just know there will be something else to worry about soon enough.

yeah unfortunately all I do is worry! I go in for my second beta today, I hope if that is good my anxiety level will decrease some. I am thinking of asking my RE or nurse if they can reccomend a therapist that is how all consuming my anxiety is. I already had anxiety issues before I got pregnant but they were under control on my zoloft and with my first pregnancy I wasn't this anxious until I had the miscarriage. I had been trying to wean down my zoloft for the baby's sake but I don't think I can function without it! Good luck to everyone!

Renee! You will get tons of support here! Congratulations on your !!!

Smoothmelo and Renee, good luck on your betas today. Let us know as soon as you do. Will be for big numbers!

Cat you're okay. Everything in moderation. I've had this intense craving for virginia ham (as part of my salt addiction). But after I read about the listeria, I started microwaving it before I ate it...LOL! I will definitely stay away from delis and restaurants where the meat is left out.

Smoothmelo- regarding anxiety, I hope that it's eased today after you get your numbers!!! I know quite a few people who have had normal pregnancies immediately after a miscarriage. I know easier said than done, but "Try" to relax.

Do you gals feel pregnant? Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I don't feel pregnant today. I felt queazy last week, but for 3 days I don't. I also was exhausted, but I don't really feel exhausted now.

I keep worrying that maybe something is wrong. I guess I will worry for the whole 9 months.

Cathy -- Congrats on your beta!!! 8586 -- hooray!!!

Roxanne -- I am horrified your RE just abandoned you. Our ultrasounds are the same day.

smoothmelo--I am totally freaking out. I keep worrying something is going to happen. Also, I think I read some where that it is worse to go off of anti-depressants when you are pregnant than to stay on them. I would check with your doc before weaning off anymore.

Cat-- I agree with the girls who said not to worry about the lunch meat too much. Just cut back now.

to all the new gals on this thread!!! Our thread is growing!!!

Everyone else -- I hope you had a great weekend and you beat the heat!!!

As for my job, They will probably surprise me. But I am going to wait for a while to tell them--At least until after a couple of ultrasounds.

I ate hotdogs from my favorite fastfood restaurant(Portillos) about once a week when I was PG with my son. I am pretty sure I ate lunch meat on a weekly basis too (since I was working and brown bagged my lunch almost everyday).

Great beta!!!! Congratulations!!!! Are you feeling more pregnant yet?

I went in today for an u/s instead of Wed b/c I started spotting and cramping yesterday. It was kind of scary but it all turned out well b/c we saw TWO healthy heartbeats! Both babies are measuring 6w1d!!! I sort of knew this might be coming, nevertheless it was so shocking. I'm still so nervous about the following weeks (aren't we all!!!), but I'm going to try to enjoy the moment and postpone worrying until tomorrow.
