Heart Trying to Eat Less

This forum had no posts in it, so I felt the need to jump in and add something.

I'm trying to eat less and lose a few pounds -- OKAY, I'm trying to lose about 10-20 lbs. If I lose a total of 20, I'll be back to my pre-preg weight, but I have few dreams that I'll actually get down 20 lbs. I have been doing Slim Fast and have lost about 5 lbs so far. So, if I could get down another 5-10, I'd be happy.

Basically, my prob is that I LOVE TO EAT and I'm around food all day as I prod the kids to eat. Neither one eats much and then I'm stuck looking at all this food. I am training myself to only eat when I'm hungry and to stop when I'm full. I'm not minding the Slim Fast shakes since I can have those with a small meal (like a slice of toast or fruit or a half of a sandwich).

I'm not by any means fat or heavy, but I'd just like to kiss a few flabby pounds away.

Anyone else battling food?

I'm so glad a subject like this came up...Karen, i am right there with ya..although i would need to lose a little more than you to be back to my pre-preg weight, but i have battled all the same..but mine is a little different. i have been battling with bulimia for about 3 years, and am scared that when i start gaining weight when i get pregnant, i might resort to it. I know i can't, and i can controll it when i want to, like now. I have about 8 weeks before i start by shots, and i would like to lose about 15 pounds by then, I have started eating only fruits, veggies, fish, chicken, and grains, and exercising every spare minute after the kids are in bed. I would love to hear more peoples stories about this struggle with food.

I've personally battled my weight for as long as I can remember. Just before my husband and I married in 2001, I lost about 55lbs, with the help of LA Weight Loss. But true to form, I started gaining it back and then some after the wedding.

I actually had one doctor I saw tell me that I needed to lose 150lbs if I wanted to ever get pregnant. Now to be honest with you, I am a big girl. But if I were to lose 150lbs, I'd be dead.

Over the last year and a half, I've lost 45lbs. I'm still struggling with food every day. But I'm trying to lose as much weight as possible before I go to see the fertility specialist next month. I'm exercising and drinking lots of water, as well as trying to remember how I lost all that weight 7 years ago.

If anyone has any tips, I'm all ears.

I really enjoyed doing Weight Watchers. I did the online on because I did not enjoy going to the meetings. It is totally sensible and I never felt as if I was starving.

I too am trying to lose weight. My newest RE thinks that could help clear up my PCOS symptoms and make it easier to concieve. I have been doing the low amylose diet and lots of exercise. So far I am down 17lbs since mid December. Hopefully I can go a little farther before my RE appt. on 3/11. It sounds like everyone is headed the right direction!!

My RE has told me a couple times that I need to lose some weight and that doing so would most likely lessen a lot of my PCOS symptoms, especially the ovulation problems. When he told me at the end of October that I was basically too fat to have babies (although in a much nicer way.. that's just what I heard ) I first said that I was never going to eat again. That lasted until lunch time rolled around. But since then, I've been keeping track of everything I eat. First I was using a little notebook I kept in my purse and now I'm using www.dailyplate.com. I've found that it really helps me make better choices on what to eat. Since the first time I was weighed at my RE's office in September, I've lost about 16 pounds... which isn't a whole lot over that many months, but it's better than having gained 16 pounds. I know that if I were to get my butt in gear and actually do some exercise I would get even better results, but sometimes it's really hard for me to get motivated.

It is hard to get motivated. It sounds like you are doing great though!! 16 pounds is awesome. It is so hard! Especially around the holidays and special days. I give myself one day a month to eat whatever I want. I find if I do that it gives me something to look forward to. I had never heard of daily plate.com. I am definately going to look into it. Have you noticed any differences in your PCOS symptoms?

I was right at the BMI limit in March to participate in our clinic's shared risk plan. That was the best motivation I'd had in the last ten years for losing weight!

Besides starting to exercise regularly, I also started keeping track of my food intake on Calorie Counter - Free Online Diet Journal. It has a tool to calculate how many calories you need to get each day to maintain your weight, so then you can figure out how much to eat to lose the weight you want.

Once I started keeping track of what I was eating on the calorie counting tool it made me really aware of what I was putting in my mouth and wanting to get the most bang for my buck with the calories I was consuming. For example, one frosted cupcake had the entire USRDA recommendation for sugar for a whole day. It wasn't difficult to use the tools at all and was very helpful. The graphs charting your progress are fun, too.

Hi Karen, I figured I would also jump in.

I am also trying to loose a few pounds before I start my IVF stim and I am doing ok I guess. You can see it from my ticker...

I eat very little and absolutly no junk, no meat and no pasta/rice/breat at all.

So I am allowing myself Eggs, cheeses, nuts, fruits, veggies and yagourt and stuff. It helps me loose close to a pound a day and I am only doing it for 40 days. All in all I only want to loose 10-12 pounds but there are set backs like today we had a free burger and fries so I had that and I know it will set me back but as long as I loose 10 pounds I would be happy about it.

Helene
