palenaki,
hello my name is Kim and in may of last year my husband and i went through the same thing and my doctor told me the same thing but now like you i am have more problems then i ever did not to mention that i find it even harder to have a relationship with my sisters considering we were all pg at the same time and now i have a new niece and nephew. And my hubands brothers wife just gave birth to there 12 child. I am going through a big depression now that i find out that you have to be rich to get any kind of fertility drugs. But i have been looking into other things like a over the counter drug called Ovulex, due a web search for it. It might just be what we are looking for. At this point i am willing to try anything. hang in there you are not alone. kimwood |

Hello, I'm on the same page as the rest of you ladies! I had an ectopic last may 2005 and my doctor told me the same thing, you have an 8% chance of having another ectopic, and you shouldn't have any trouble getting pregnant again. Well, here we are 10 months later and still nothing, not even a late period. I thought I would take some time off TTC after I had the surgery, it was getting to be too much of an emotional roller-coaster. But now I'm trying it again. I'm not sure what the ectopic does to fertility, but in my case I had scar tissue from an infection I didn't know about a couple years before, that blocked the tube. My doctor left so many unanswered questions, that at the time I didn't think about asking. They should be more informative! Instead of just leaving us high and dry!
Hang in there sweetie, you are not alone. And I am determined to have a baby, after ECT. If I can help anyway, I will be glad to.

I have a friend who had a tube removed with ectopic pg.
I went through this with her, because she was unmarried with an unplanned pregnancy at the time. She didn't even realize she was pregnant, I think, until almost the end. She had severe pain (I think it might have burst or was about to?)
Anyway, they had to remove one tube. This was like 10 years ago. They told her she would have no problem conceiving. And she didn't. About two years later she got married and soon after she decided to try to get pregnant, she did. Then four years after that, same story. She has two healthy kids. She swears that cutting caffeine out can totally make a difference, but I think she is just a fertile myrtle. Also, I have never been able to cut caffiene yet! I have a blocked tube (no endo, just developed that way, I think). I thought they told me that reduced my chances of conceiving by 50% because of the fact that every other month you alternate. (But I could be remembering wrong, it was three years ago). But if so, I would think removal of a tube would do the same thing. I have conceived 3 times with having one blocked tube. The first two ended in early m/c and the third is currently very early and being watched closely. I am wondering if the blocked tube makes it more likely for an ectopic? My Hcg levels are low, which from what i read could indicate ectopic, but there is also a possiblity my cycle was out of whack and I ovulated late. I will feel better when we can do a vaginal ultrasound. D. |

I had an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured almost resulting in my death. Prior to rupture it typically bleeds within your abdominal cavity, slowly, from a slight tear until it bursts. Depending on the amount of time the bleeding exists, depends on the amount of coagulation within your abdominal cavity, because blood begins to coagulate quickly.
When my tube ruptured I was around 8 weeks along. My left tube was removed during emergency surgery. There was 6 weeks of coagulated blood within all of my abdominal organs per the doctor. I never thought I'd have a baby. I was wrong. Now, I have a healthy 16 year old who I concieved 1 year after my tubal. Additionally, I have conceived since my son was born. I am TTC presently after losing our last baby due to no hearbeat at 12 weeks, but the two losses are entirely unconnected. |

But know i am seeing my doctor and i am getting a HSG done to make sure my tubes are open i hope that they are they couldn't i only had the surgery 2 years ago.

I also had an ectopic that ruptured - mine in 6/06. My OB told me that eggs migrate and I would have a really good chance of conceiving again. You've done it once...
Right. For me that once was a fluke and I don't ovulate regularly. After clomid with the OB I've started going to an RE who has me on injectables. She said that with one less functional tube your chances are half that with two. Yes, docs may say differently, but the chances are so small of an egg being recieved by the opposite side tube that you can't even count them. I know that isn't good news, but I'm a lot happier knowing what is actually going on. The good news is that one pregnancy does mean that you can produce eggs and that puts you ahead in this IF game.
