Advice

Ok, so I am freaking out. Around 3:00 last night, I woke up to the worst cramps ever. I laid there for a while and they wouldn't go away. So I got up (TMI alert) and tried to use the bathroom, thinking that was maybe the cramps I was feeling, and I was able to. I went back to bed and I still had some minor cramping, but not as bad. I wasn't able to go to to sleep though b/c I was worrying so much. Then after I showered this morning, I was sitting down for a second and had HORRIBLE pains....they felt like sharp cramping but were extending towards my bottom. It lasted about 10 seconds, and hurt enough to bring tears to my eyes and I was getting ready to call my husband at work b/c I was scared. It went away, and haven't felt any cramps since. DH wants me to call the doctor, but I called last week and was complaining of cramps, and they said as long as they aren't constant, and I have no bleeding (which I don't) then they are normal. I hate to call again....they are going to think I am crazy! I don't know what to do - please help! Do you think I may have an ectopic pregnancy?

I don't have any advice on the cramps but I would call the doctor for peace of mind. Most pregnant people are a little crazy/worried!

I had crazy bad cramps from 4 weeks through about 6 weeks, but I think they were more gastrointestinal cramps. They were intense, and made me really worry about ectopic, but I read a lot on the subject and found out that your intestines start to "relax" during this time (something about the hormones) and that can cause you to have really bad, very painful crampiness.

I would try taking something for gas, and just see if that helps. If it does, then you don't have anything to worry about. If it doesn't, then call your doc. I know there are some things safe to take for this during pregnancy, but I'm not positive what they are (my list of approved OTC meds is in my car). I'm sure someone on here will be able to tell you for sure!

Good luck and try not to worry too much!

You can always request an u/s to make sure everything is moving in the right direction. They should be able to see if there is a sac in your uterus or even possibly in the tube. We requested our first u/s at 5w2d and once they saw there was nothing in my uterus but my beta kept increasing they kept a very watchful eye on me. My pains were very similar to what you are describing and for me they did go away and come again. I think I was just past 7 weeks when they finally saw a mass in my tubes and fluid (which was internal bleeding) behind my uterus. After experiencing an ectopic, I would highly recommend being on the caustious side. Because I requested the additional tests and u/s they were able to catch the ectopic before it ruptured. Even tough they had to remove my tube they were able to perform my surgery via lap which made recovery time much less. Do what you need to do to put your mind at rest! The addtional stress is not good either. In addition, you have to pay for it all so why should they care!

I would make them check too, I had an ectopic that was missed and ruptured. My pains were on one side and I asked every doc office I talked to for 2 weeks, everyone I knew I asked about the pain and was told the same it was normal. I just knew it was not, I had a pregnancy in both my uterus and my tube which is uncommon and the reason it was missed. I see no reason why they should not check it out for you to ease your mind. I will never feel safe again until I know for sure that my pregnancies are in my uterus and not in the tubes.

Thank you to everyone for your advice - I was a mess yesterday! My doctor was able to squeeze me in today and did an u/s and everything looks good. I am 6w4d and got to hear the h/b - 122 beats a minute. I am so relieved. I guess I will always fear the worst b/c what I have been through. I wish we could just sit back and enjoy our pregnancies. Thanks again to everyone!
