For those of you that have had an ectopic pregnancy and terminated it with the shot, how long did it take for you to be able to try again? I'm doing IVF and would really like to get started on my next cycle as soon as possible. I know that my beta needs to get down to nothing but does that mean I can start back up after it's down to zero? Does the meth. shot take a while to leave your system? I am so worried that I will have to wait forever to get started again. Maybe I am just a little to impatient?

Lynn, did you have one shot or two? If you only had one shot, most drs say you have to wait 3 months. But that's 3 months till egg retrieval (what i don't understand is if it takes 3 months to leave your system how you can stimulate eggs to grow before then but egg retrieval itself is risky?) Anyways, my dr lets you start bcp and stims as long as your estimated ER is 3 months from the shot. Talk to your RE though. I've read some that only want it out of your system for one month- and that's what many online fact sheets about methotrexate say so it's possible that as soon as AF arrives that you can start bcp.

I only had to take one shot. So I guess then I am looking at 3 months? I went in for another Beta this morning so I guess I will ask my RE or nurse about it when they call this afternoon. Thanks.

Lynn, I also had the metho shot and still haven't been told how long to wait. My beta is back down to 0 we are assuming, as of Tuesday it was 11 and I will go back in on Tuesday of next week to verify. But my OB hasn't said I need to wait three months. If I find out before you get the question brought up to your RE I'll post again to answer.

Hey Jen - I was just wondering if you asked your OB about waiting 3 months? I think you were supposed to go back yesterday right? How was your beta? Down to zero yet?
