Red face Should I be concerned?

I recently had an Ectopic pregnancy ended by having the methotrexate shot. I know that before the shot they checked my liver and kidney functions to make sure they would good. Well now, after my latest blood test (6 days after the shot) my nurse calls me this morning to tell me that my AST level in my liver is elevated. I asked my nurse if this could have been caused by the shot and she said yeah. So, they are just going to check it again when I go back on Friday. Of course my RE is telling me not to worry about it, but come on? What else can possibly go wrong here? I am getting so fustrated, it just seems like nothing can go right for me right now. So, for those of you that have had the shot, did any of you get an elevated liver function? And if so, did it turn out to be nothing?

Lynn, this is driving me nuts. My OB didn't tell me any of this nor do I think he's checking it. All they are telling me is my beta levels. I received my shot two weeks ago today and I know NOTHING about elevated living function, how long I have to wait to start trying again, etc. I feel like you sometimes, nothing can go right for me. That's actually the first line that came out of Dh's mouth when I told him my levels dropped. This stinks!

Wow, really? All I know is I went in on Friday (3/23) to have a beta and an u/s because my numbers weren't going up. When I talked to the nurse before the blood work they told me about it possibly being and ectopic and if that was the case I would have to have the shot. But, she said that they would take lots of blood to check my liver and kidney function before the shot because the shot can effect the liver and kidney. So, I guess my blood work that day was fine because I had to have the shot the very next day (Saturday). I have had a total of 3 more blood tests done since then but this past Friday was the only one that they also checked my liver and kidney functions again. Did your OB give you any information on the shot? Paperwork explaining anything about side effects or anything like that? My RE did and it talked about all different things, the liver and kidney function being part of it. Maybe your OB is checking your liver and kidney functions as well, you just aren't aware of it. I wouldn't have known about mine but since it was elevated this time they told me about it. Actually the nurse that called me on Friday didn't say anything to me about it at all. My regular nurse was out on Friday, so she is the one that called me about it today.

I don't think RE doctors really know a whole lot about methotrexate, and they're the ones giving it to us. After my first shots, and right before my second shots, I told the RE via the telephone that I didn't want more shots until I had been seen by him or my regular OB/GYN since I had been so sick and in so much pain (also hadn't been examined by him since two days before my first shots and hadn't even seen him at all since) and was actually asked, "What do you mean you've been sick?" He had the gall to tell me that I shouldn't be nauseated when it's the first symptom listed on the information form he gave me, any website, or even the manufacturer's insert.

Wow, you have been through a lot haven't you? I was only examined by my RE the day before they gave me the shot, but I have been having regular beta tests to make sure my number is going down, which it is. I don't know when I will be starting this whole process over again. I just hope that when I go back for another beta on Friday my liver function is back to normal. I can't stand all these little things happening, they just make this process so much harder.

Lynn, I wasn't given anything as far as information to take with me. I did have a couple vials of blood drawn and then had to wait about an hour or so before I was cleared to receive the shot. I had blood work done at 4 days and 7 days then again then again on day 11. I still haven't had the chance to make it in this week....I'm just swamped at work after being off for my dad most of last week. Thank goodness it's a holiday weekend!
