My story does not end up good.

Thank you all who were concerned when I did not log in yesterday. Yesterday was a day from hell. I bumped my Monday's saga about getting methotrexate so you can read about that. I will pick up with that night. Monday I was on vicadin and percocet. And benadryl for the intense itching. By Tues AM I had bad chills and called my RE for a script for nausea (unfortunately my nurse isn't in on Tuesdays so I had the other nurse who said she'd call it in right away, but didn't ask about my pain, which had increased). I got the nausea meds at 11am and got a new thermometer which was reading 94.3, then 93.3-I thought it was crap cause it was digital, and took a nap on DH. Here is where it is foggy- about an hour later I woke up crying about pain in my right shoulder. DH kept asking about my left side pain- it was diffuse across my belly. I started to drift off again and the next thing I knew DH was on the phone, crying my name over and over. He was telling 911 that my eyes turned brown (they are normally green), that he could hardly hear me breathe, and that I was white as a sheet. For some reason, I became alert and begged DH to put some pants on me! I figured out 911=paramedics and all I was wearing was a t-shirt. Fortunately DH took that as a responsive sign and got his pj bottoms on me just before 8 huge guys came rushing into my basement.
The paramedics could barely feel a pulse- I did beg them to let me pee and they did, but then I passed out on the floor (no more need for modesty after that). They got me into the ambulance and had 2 lines in me. I get to the ER and they are pumping me full of fluids- oh, my blood pressure was at 60/40-everyone was freaked about that. The fluids made me chatter and so cold! The ER doc did an adominal u/s-he started high on my right side, even though DH kept telling him that I ovulated from my left and that is where the pain started. Well, the ER Dr. has an MD, my DH has a PhD, so fortunately the ER doc had the transducer. Turns out there was bleeding all on my right side. I was bleeding behind my liver and kidneys. They got a WONDERFUL on call Ob/Gyn (who I may swtich to due to how great she was). She told me that my ectopic ruptured, as can be the case with 10% of people who get methotrexate (why can't I be in a good statistic just once!!!). I kept telling her I was O- and she promised she would give me Rhogam (my RE who gave me the methotraxate told me I didn't need Rhogam. I may be finding a new RE as well). They were concerned for my internal bleeding, so I hear faintly them calling to prep an OR stat. OMG- I never thought I would be a stat for anything! I pray I am never again! After the procedure the Ob/gyn told me that she had to remove my left tube because that is where the rupture was and they had to give me a unit of O-, but my ovaries looked beautiful, the other tube looked beautiful as did my uterus. I was kept overnight at the hospital (surgery wing) and was in lots of pain from the laproscopy-3 incisions, 1 in belly button, 1 on right, 1 on left (this one is hugely black and blue). Today, the Ob/gyn came and showed me the pictures.

I came home today after they decided I wasn't going to pass out. My crit was low-21 (they like it to be 40ish) but she said I was young and healthy and she didn't want to give me more blood unless it was under 20 (young, because she was a year older than me!!!). I hurt so much I have only been able to cry 2x-once when I read Cat915's response to me on my other post, finding out she had her tube removed too. I am so happy you got pregnant Catherine!

Sorry this is so long. I needed to get the story out. I am so lucky DH stayed home with me Monday and Tuesday-I just think that I could have died if he didn't...My dad is coming in tonight from Florida-DH just went to get him and a friend is coming in a few minutes to stay with me. I will really need to grieve soon, but DH wants me to wait for him- he is so remarkable and I am so lucky (with DH, apparently not with pregnancies). Thanks for listening. If I can help any one of you from not having to go through this it is all worth the numbness in my fingers and pain in my incisions!!!
Love to you all!
Jen

I didn't get a chance to read this over. Sorry about mistakes- they gave me lots of narcotics in the hospital.

Oh my gosh! I cannot even believe what I just read! I am soooo glad you're okay!!! That is by far the most important thing. I'm so sorry that you had such a traumatic experience and you are very lucky that your DH was there to get help. I cannot even imagine the physical and emotional pain that you are in right now. JenCat, how terrifying. You must still be in shock about everything. I hope you can continue to recover and that your surgery wounds heal fast. Thank goodness you weren't alone.

Jen- OMG! What a nightmare. I am so glad that you are ok. First I am orry about the pregnancy being ectopic. The methotrexate is hard enough, but rupturing is horrible. You are lucky to have DH. We are here for you. Hugs.

Oh man. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Thank God your husband was with you! I agree it's probably time to "think" about a new RE. I don't know the entire situation, but this is just too scary.

((hugs)) I'm so sorry, but glad you're drugged up enough to post to us to give us the update.

I was given methotrexate for my possible ectopic but I wasn't warned of the chance that it could still rupture. Why do they hold information like that from us? The pain in the shoulder is what they did tell me to watch for though, that is almost a sure bet sign that you have an ectopic pregnancy about to go bad. Jen, I am so so sorry you have had to experience so much pain and grieve this week. I'm glad you have a great support system, lean on them now - you are broken and in need of their love and support to help put you back together. We are here for you too, anytime!
