Question regarding ectopic/ methotrexate

Hello!
So I got a positive for the first time since we started trying a year and ten months ago only to be told five days later that I was miscarring because of my low beta numbers... the doctor thinks it is an ectopic pregnancy so they gave me a methotrexate shoot and three days later, my beta numbers increased!!! so I had another test today and hopefully the numbers are not increasing because they want to give me another shot of methotrexate and from what I've read if given two doses then the wait to try again is six months.. omg! is this true? The doctor's did not give me a lot of information... I have not had any bleeding since I was given the shoot....
I am soo disapointed but I am also dying to try again!! I've read of people getting pregnant righ away but not sure how long is the wait after methotrexate :-(

Valentina,

I am so sorry to see your post....I had MTX(methotrexate) with my first IVF....I know that w/ one dose you must wait 3 months before trying again....I never needed a second dose so I am not sure about an additional 3 months.

Do you mind me asking how far along were you? Did they confirm w/ an ultrasound that it was indeed ectopic (in your tubes and not uterus)....(the MTX was given to me early, before it could be seen on u/s...so officially it was called an ectopic/nonviable...because if they wait too long there is a risk of losing the tube)

I know this is so hard right now....and the additional wait another cruel punishment (I was 37 when mine happened...3 months of not TTC was a big deal) I will for you.

Hi!
I asked the doctor about an ultrasound but they say that my numbers were not high enough to see anything so at this point they are assuming it is ectopic... I was 6 weeks the fist time they gave the a soot of metho. I went for my second shoot yesterday... so far no extreme syntoms and no bleeding...so I am not sure what is going on.. next Monday I go for a blood test to see if the numbers decrased... ohhh this is too much :-(
But we have to be optimistic and for each other..

I'm sorry you're going through this.

I had an ectopic myself in May in 6th week and was given 2 shots of methotrexate.

My doc asked us to wait 3 mos and told us very firmly taht he didn't want us getting pregnent by mistake within those 3 mos.We started ttc again with med assistance from August.

Hope this helps.

I am so sorry you are going through an ectopic, it is heartbreaking! When I had my ectopic, I had one shot of methotrexate and was told I had to wait 2 months before trying again. I got pregnant with my daughter through IVF 2 and 1/2 months after my shot. The pregnancy was totally normal and my daughter is now 14 months old. I that you get through this as quickly as possible. Don't give up hope!

I had a suspected ectopic in March. I received one shot of methotrexate and was advised to wait three months or three cycles, whichever came first. They definitely recomment you wait due to the risk of spontaneous abortion (miscarriage) or birth defects if conception takes place too soon. The first month we were allowed to start trying again I did indeed conceive and so far so good.
