* I had come off the birth control pill after being on it for 15 years
* About 28 days later, I was spotting. It was light, so I thought it was my FIRST period since going off the pill * I took a pregnancy test, it said negative * About 3 weeks later (and HORRIFIC back pain) I thought I got my period again * This time my "period" was so heavy and painful that I couldn't stand up straight * I walked into the living room to tell my husband something was terribly wrong and passed out * We found out in the ER that I was pregnant, but it was ectopic and had ruptured * I lost my right tube after that (had to have emergency surgery) Scariest part: The doctor told me if I did not come in that night, I would have bled to death. I am SO SO SO careful now with all the signs I 'thought' were just a period. |
