Re: One ovary/tube and IVF
I was wondering if there were someone out there with my same kind of situation. Last year, my first visit to the fertility dr, he found that I had a endo cyst covering my left ovary and tube. I had no clue about it. No pain. A few weeks later, I had pain all of a sudden and was in the ER. It did not burst, so surgery was scheduled to remove them a month later. THey ended up taking out my appendix as well, since the cyst was completly wrapped around all of that. It was pushing against my bladder. No wonder I peed so often.
We tried invitro last Nov-Dec and I still did really well with only one ovary and tube. They put 2 eggs in but it didn't take. My DH has sleepy sperm but a great sperm count. He also had surgery for his vein that produces heat last year. I would love to talk to someone else about this and whether I should ever try invitro again. We are in the process of adoption from Russia now but I am thinking about trying again. If would have to be with a different protocol than my dr did in Nov. |

I have had two unsuccessful IVF's. We are now currently in the process of adopting in Russia. Since your post is from awhile ago, I don't know if you are still looking into IVF, however, I just wanted to share my girlfriends experience. She hasdone of her tubes removed then went for her second IVF. It was successful and she now has beautiful triples.

Hi
I have stage 4 endo and about 5 years ago had surgery to remove it. Although it didn't start out that way. The surgery was just to remove a cyst but then the doctor found all the endo, along with 2 handball size chocolate cysts on each ovary. Well, the end result of that surgery was removal of a fallopian tube, one ovary and part of the other one. My husband had surgery for a varicocele. I went through all the fertility drugs and was ready to try IVF but found out that I would need an egg donor. So instead of going through that, I just felt that 2 years was long enough for me, we decided to adopt. For us, the adoption process was a breeze, thank God! We were extremely fortunate that we didn't wait years like some couples do. Our 1st adoption, we waited 2 months before a birthmother found us and our 2nd adoption, we waited 3 weeks and then heard from an attorney and 2 months later our 2nd daughter was born! She will be Christened this coming Sunday and we couldn't be happier with the choice that we made! All I can say is you'll know in your heart when the time is right to continue with fertility treatments or to maybe choose another path. Best of luck to you guys!!!!! ![]() |

I also have severe endometriosis. I did 3 ivf cycles and then discovered I had one tube completely blocked, and had that utbe removed. I have also had surgery a couple of time to remove endo cycts. I have done two ivf cycles since these surgeries, and no success. We have decided to pursue a gestational carrier, since our embryos are excellent - they are just not "sticking" to me. That does not mean ivf cannot work for you - everyone is different.
Best wishes on your adoption plan ![]() |

I cannot believe your story-mine is identical
I am now 36 and have had the left ovary, tube and endometrioma removed. Three rounds of IVF and still no pregnancy. Finally I am adopting from Russia. I have spent in excess of $200k in fertility treatments. When I look back on how many adoptions I could have paid for it shocks me. My advice is to see a specialist or three. You can preserve your fertility through some agressive means. Unfortunatly, my doctor did not have the good sense to recommend cryo-freezing of eggs, blastocysts for future use. At 22, I did not have the good sense to ask. My doctor told me not to worry, so I did not and I have paid most dearly for my ignorance. Good luck to you! I will be sending hugs and good thoughts. Remember, knowledge is power...and after all, the doctors are only "practicing" medicine, you can advocate for yourself!
