Endo Questions

I was just thinking I had my Lap in 2005 and belive it helped in having success for my daughter in early 2007.
I have 3 questions:
1. Has anyone had more than two Laps to clean themselves out for fertility reasons?

2. Does anyone know how long it takes to start growing back (I'm sure it's different for everyone) is there a general response?

3. Is there ways to keep Endo away (medically or herbal)?

I should probably learn more, and I don't know why it's taken untill now to think about this?

Hi there,
I was diagnosed with Endo in April after 4 failed IUIs.
I have been told that Endo can start growing back after 6 months. Obviously every case is different.
I have seen a naturopath and have changed my eating habits (I'm in the middle of an IVF cycle).
These habits won't be forever but I've cut out most dairy and meat. If I do eat meat it's organic.
I've been told that the hormones in dairy and meet can feed the endo. I've also tried to limit my intake of white flour, white ric etc... as well as cut out alcohol all together.
Here's a good link:

Not Sure. I had lap done, and had to be opened up to get cleaned out but 2years later it had progressed aggressively again. I heard that Lupron works but if you are trying to get pregnant again I would not recommend it as it shuts down your system.

Thanks guys for your responses ~ funny that the hormones are linked to Endo (I haven't read the article yet), but that makes me worry that more women could get it if that was true.
6 months hu?

I remember hearing that Endo is dorment while you are pregnant, do you guys remember that too?

Dre - I've had 5 laps in 4 years. Most specialists I've seen say that yes endo goes dormant during pregnancy but it can start to come back after a pregnancy or a lap on average after 6 months. When you're not trying to get pregnant, the best thing you can do to keep the endo at bay is stay on bcp. I went back on bcp 6 weeks after Aiden was born and so far (fingers and toes crossed!) the endo pain is just a rarity. If we want another child we would have to do IVF again b/c of MF anyways. Your RE could do an u/s to see if he sees any fibroids or endo in your uterus. Not a guarantee but might help to understand where you are at. Good luck! You definitely deserve some easier times ahead

Futuremom2b, I think I've answered a post from you on another thread, but overkill never hurt.

1). I personally have not had more than one, but I have heard of women who have. Since endo grows back pretty quickly.

2). I think most RE or women who have posted about this say 6 months. I just know that I was taking the lupron for 3-4 months and came off and was unable to get pregnant with 3 IUI's. Had to move to IVF. RE said there must be something stoping the sperm from getting to the eggs.

3). Again I know Lupron can surpress the system and my RE did use that after my lap. I think the article that another ladie posted on here is a good for "the endometriosis diet. I personally am a huge love of meat and milk so not sure I can give those up. I have heard that it worked for several women.

I think that covered all your questions. Good luck.

It's so good to see that there are BFPs from women with Endo. I had 7 IUIs in total all BFN. I'm just in the middle of my first IVF cycle and am extremely stressed and anxious. Glad to see that there is hope!
Congrats to all those who got their bfp!

Thanks for the responses gals! JustPeachy, why did you have so many laps? What were the reasons for them?
I would love EASEIR times ahead~ Thank you!

I think it's so funny that for the past 6 years all I was focused on was getting babies here, and I never really thought about my own health and what it meant to me ~ Endo is forever and I just never really took the time to think about my diagnosis....
Isn't that just weird?

I think I am going to meet with my old OB (WHO I LOVE), and ask him what I should do....
We would love to have another baby so much (PLEASE GOD)!

Dre-thanks for posting this. I think about this a lot. Since we got pregnant right after my lap, I am so worried that when we go to try for baby #2 that I will need another lap. I would like to start trying for baby #2 as soon as baby #1 is here. But, from what I understand, most doctors recommend waiting 1 year before trying again. I'm so scared that if I wait a year that the endo will grow back. I am crossing my fingers that the pregnancy keeps the endo from flaring up.

Loving Wife ~ you're welcome, it's so frustrating to have this problem! I will be finding out more info soon so keep in touch! My RE gave us the green light for our FET in June or July (we did July) and Avery was born in Oct. so we were able to try for #2 8 months later? We ended up having a MC, but it could of happend? We were so sad....
Anyway ~ sex doesn't hurt and my peroids didn't hurt, so I feel like I'm ok, but don't KNOW! Since we got pregnant I feel very hopeful, but want to make sure we have the best chance possible, as IVF is sooooo expensive.
I know BCP's help keep the endo away a bit, but my RE doesn't want me on those if we are going to do IVF soon.... So that's not going to happen... I will go on BCP's one month before all the ER and ET stuff!

I am so happy that you are going to have your little one, and I hope #2 for you isn't as hard as it's been for us!
Blessings!
