Hello all! I am 36 -- almost 37 at the end of Dec. I have been having trouble for 18 months getting pregnant. The first year we weren't really trying, but weren't preventing it either. It's only been the last 6 months that we have been focusing on the "why hasn't it happened yet" issue.
One of the avenues that is being investigated is that I have PCOS. I actually have an appt on Monday with an RE -- my first appt with her. In the process of getting info together for the appt, I have talked to my mom and her 3 sisters. All 4 of them have had to have a hysterectomy due to severe endometriosis. So, it makes me wonder if that could be my problem. Has anyone heard of or know of endometriosis running in families??? I have also talked to 3 of my female cousins that have children, none of them have ever had any trouble getting pregnant. They all have 2 children, and all concieved within 2-3 months of being off birth control. Just wondering. . . . . Thanks! Susan |

Susan~ I was just diagnosed w/ Stage I (mild) endo on Sept 9th when I had a laparoscopy & hysteroscopy done. Up until then I had Unexplained IF b/c all tests for DH & I were perfectly normal. I don't think in my situation that is is hereditary. I don't have any sisters. My mother never had endo & conceived easily w/ all 3 of her kids. I do know my aunt (mom's sister) had severe endo & was never able to have kids. Her adopted kids are now grown & off to college. I wouldn't say that I somewhere inherited it from her at all. My mom's other sister has 3 children & conceived easily as well.
I just wanted to wish you the best of luck & hope you get your very very soon!!! Take a look at my siggy below to see my TTC journey!! Lovingwife~ I am so glad you shared your success story. I too have been TTC for 2 years & just had my lap done. I just had my post-op appt & RE said to TTC naturally for the next 4 months. Your story gives me much hope!! Oh, & CONGRATULATIONS!!!! --Lesley

There are several THEORIES on ENDO, I am so surprised that they don't know more but I bet there's just not enough money to do the research.... But boy is there a need! Endo makes up 40-50% of infertile women that is CRAZY!
Anyway one theory is that it's genetic, and there are other theories such as hormones injected into meat, and a few others I can't remember when I was doing the research... Under my thread you can read more, someone sent me a link: Look under ENDO QUESTIONS and look for the link, there was a lot of info I never knew about until I read that! Good luck!
