Ever heard of Endo being linked to Wheat?

I mean endo pain - being linked to wheat...

Hi all. I am new here but am REALLY curious to know how many women have been told there may be a link between wheat (AKA gluten) and endo. I have severe endo and suffered through infertility for 5 very long years. I did everything under the sun to get pregnant and it finally happened on my second IVF!

So, I have since learned my dad has an allergy to gluten (Celiac disease) and it is highly genetic. I took gluten (everything wheat) out of my diet and had my first pain-free period in years. No doctor ever mentioned this to me. I have heard of a few women who finally got pregnant after taking wheat out (just a few, so please don't think this is a cure-all).

I would be interested in hearing from other women who know or do not know about this. Any thoughts? I wrote an article about it here: Friend In Reach: Endometriosis Pain & Unexplained Infertility Linked to Wheat (a.k.a. Gluten)

Maybe I can help one person out there that didn't know about this link. I wish someone had told me 15 years ago!

Take care,
Alicia

That is interesting. I have endo and my brother has Celiac. I had heard there are ways to alter your diet to help with endo, but never tried it. My RE never mentioned diet as a factor. We were fortunate to get pregnant on our own after the endo was removed by a lap, but I do plan to try getting pregnant after this baby. I'll definitely look into the wheat link. Thanks for posting.

I also have severe endo and have been seeing a naturopathic doctor for about 2 years now. I know that the pain we suffer with endo is linked to ones diet and wheat does affect inflamation and pain as does dairy. I cut both out of my diet and noticed a huge difference.

I have read this several times and have only recently eliminated wheat from my diet, or at least I'm trying. I also am trying to eliminate white rice and have substituted it with either brown rice or quinoa (which I like better). I'll let you all know if I notice a difference with my next cycle because so far, my ovulation pain after my lap this month was worse than ever before.

Hi. I wanted to let you know it took me about 5 to 6 months of being on the diet (with no cheating - or very little to have a pain-free period. I took all dairy out of my diet too. It is a hard diet to be on. You have to go at 100% or it is not really worth it. I do eat white rice. That is a good way to get the carbs since you have to cut all breads out. Eat a lot of potatoes too. We cut them up and bake them in the over to make fries...yummy.

You will have to check out celiac web sites or even TACA Talk About Curing Autism - Help and Support for Families Affected by Autism to get some great meal ideas. The diet is a life transformation...not easy to do. You really have to be sold on wanting to do it 100% Most people do not want to change their eating habits so drastically but I can tell you it has changed my life. Worth it for me. I don't think the diet works for all people but for those it does...Wow!

Let me know how it goes. I would be interesting in hearing about it. I think it is worth a shot of at least trying.

Hang in there,
