i posted this on the "general" board but thought those of you with endo might have other thoughts...so here's my conflict, opinions are welcome
on Friday i'm having a saline ultrasound to check out my tubes IF the test shows they're clear, is there any harm in trying the old fashioned way for a month or two? I had a lap for endo in August 2007. Diagnosed as mild endo that they almost completely removed, but major pain... Since then we haven't really been able to try on our own as we've been sitting around waiting for the lupron to wear off. A couple months ago I finally got my period thanks to provera and we BDed every other day until around day 30 when we decided i must've ovulated by then... Turns out it was a 45 day cycle and I actually didn't ovulate till around day 40 (bloodwork showed I had) Now i'm on ortho-cyclen waiting for this test and my husband's second semen analysis. First was good but they'd like to see if it can be "better". Unfortunately a couple months ago he started on meds for tendonitis in his hand which doesn't particularly help his swimmers.... So my thought is that if the scan Friday shows i'm clear, and we know i'm ovulating then how much is being "wasted" if we hold off on IVF? Obviously with every period more endo tissue comes back and i know the pain is there but (aside from last weekend when i had my period) i haven't taken any vicodin - the thought of a baby supercedes the endo pain Am i being stupid? should I just go straight to the big guns? (which the RE is leaning towards...not bothering with IUI and straight to IVF) If the scan shows I'm blocked then I won't question it as much, but if I'm clear? Am I being silly for wanting to have some old fashioned sex - for a little bit at least? Sorry this ended up so long....thoughts?

I just replied to your other post with a HUGE novel, so I will keep this short!
For me, I don't see the point in going to the extreme right away. Why not try IUI? Clomid? If your tubes are clear, then why not do the others first? Keep some of the fun in things! That is the route we have chosen for ourselves. And if it doesn't work we will move onto IVF when we can afford it. But if we don't try IUI, we will never know if it will work! ![]()

i just responded to your other post so i'm going to keep this short, but apparently i can't be put on clomid since the most recent bloodwork showed that my body did ovulate all my myself and if you ovulate normally and go on clomid then it can do bad things...or so i've been told
and iui will depend on my tube but also DH's swimmers...the meds won't wear off till three months after he stops them which could be awhile....

I would say give yourselves a chance and then maybe do iui after a few months??? I got preg naturally (right before we were to start all the tests you are doing now) but we had already decided to only do iui if we had to but if my tubes were blocked we had decided to adopt. So, we had it planned out before testing but didn't need it--maybe you won't either, I am praying you don't!

I have a situation kind of like yours, I have stage 4 endo, and have had a laprascopy and laparatomy 3 months apart. My fertility doc. said my tubes were clear however I had "clubbing" (shorter finger like things at ends of tubes that grab the egg, due to the endo) so it will take me longer to concieve naturally. They don't want me to wait that long to concieve because of how rapid my endo appears and with each surgery I decrease my chances of natural conception b/c of scar tissue. So they told me they want to bypass my tube and go straight to IVF and hopefully i will concieve and it will mess up my hormones enough to keep endo at bay so I can take the extra time needed to concieve subsequent babies. I guess what Im saying is, it all depends on your situation, but just remember with each surgery comes risks, so if your endo appears fast i would look into IUI or IVF instead of taking the time to concieve naturally. If your endo is not that severe than by all means get bding!!
