I have stage 4 endo, and was given a 1 month shot of Lupron in Sept., I had skipped a period in oct. In Nov. 17th I had bloodwork done at my fertility dr. and they told me I was Ovulating and should excpect my period on or about Dec. 10th. Dec. 10th I got my FULL FLOW (cramps bloat, everything) went in for blood and sono, then was told it wasn't my period that the bloodwork and sono showed ovulation. Dr. then told me I should expect my period in another 3 weeks. OK, so Jan. 4th, again Full Flow (all period symptoms) had blood and sono, and now was told that there was an egg seen on my sono, and that my cycle is messed up and this bleeding is not my period. Now I don't understand b/c if my cycle is messed up how do they know the exact time I will start bleeding. I keep getting told that this is when my period will start and then when it does, they say my body is telling them it's ovulation, (bleeding is also normal in color and lasts my normal 5 days). Is it in anyway possible to be ovulating and menstruating at the same time?

I have never heard of ovulation and period happening at once. However, I used to get what seemed like "normal" periods (5 days, regular flow) every other week (and sometimes spotting for 3-5 days in between each one). It became impossible for me to predict which was ovulation and which was a period. My doctor at the time told me that my body just ovulates whenever it wants to and sheds uterine tissue whenever it wants to (not on a schedule), and that whenever I see blood flow, it may be left over from the last time I ovulated, and not a true period. Two years ago, I actually went on the pill for 4 months to regulate. Since then, I have been fairly regular (one period per month, but sometimes spot for a day or two in between--which may be ovulation). But I needed lap surgery to clear up some endo. Have you been checked for that again? (Ihave heard that it can come back). As you are probably aware, it can wreak havock on your system.

Well, my RE. got all my previous records and concurred with my OBGYN that based on my bloodwork and sono's that I seem to grow an egg when I start menstruating and the egg is released during day 3 or so of my period. I was told while extremely rare, it is a possibility. Which would make sense to me b/c I was taking OPK everyday for a month (total of 3 months) and never had a positive however I never checked around my period. I always thought I wasn't ovulating but bloodwork would show that I was. It's just so confusing......

Glad to hear that you have an answer (somewhat). Hopefully, they can easily treat it, and you will be good-to-go in no time!
