Red face How do you know it's endo?

Hi everyone,

This is my first post ever on a fertility forum. My husband and I have been trying to have our first for over 18 months and it feels like forever. We've gone through so much already and I need some support from others going through the same thing. It's an emotional rollercoaster that feels like it's never ending.

Today at my day three u/s, my doctor suggested that if I don't get pregnant in the next two cycles, she will suggest I do a lap to rule out endo. I looked up endo online to check if I have any of the major symptoms and I don't. Then I noticed that some websites say there are women who don't have symptoms and it's only when women have trouble conceiving is when the possibility of endo comes up. My question is, are there others out there that have endo that don't have symptoms? If I have endo, is it treatable and can I get pregnant after treatment?

Thanks!

My DH and I have been TTC for almost 2 years now. In May I went for a lap to see if I have endo. It was confirmed, I do. Unlike you, I had several of the symptoms.
The surgery is not so bad, you do get shoulder pain afterwards. This is referral pain from the air they use to expand your abdomen. A hot pack and the painkillers they give you do the trick.
My surgery was at the end of May this year. I started on clomid just 2 days ago. Endo does not mean you can't have kids, just a little harder to get there. My two sisters have endo as well, and one has 2 children and the other 1 child. It took them some time to get there but they did.
But I understand that 18 months seems like a lifetime.
Good luck with your surgery.

I have stage II endo but didn't have any symptoms other than infertility. My RE suggested a lap after he found a tender spot when doing an internal exam. I got pregnant naturally the month after the lap. It is possible to have endo with no symptoms and it definitely possible to get pregnant. Just be sure your doctor has lots of experience doing the surgery. It was the surgical removal of the endo which made my BFP possible. The lap isn't that bad. It took me about a week to recover completely, but it was definitely worth it! I would do it again in a heartbeat if I need to.

Good luck to you and feel free to pm me if you have any questions about the lap or endo.

Thanks for the good news. I'm glad to hear that a laparoscopy is not that bad and the better news is that there's still hope for a baby! I started to worry when the doctor mentioned endo for the first time. It's just strange that it's taken us so long to get here.

I had a lap done one week ago. We have been TTC for 18 months with no success. We have had 4 failed IUI's. My doc was not expecting to find anything, but turns out I had endo on both ovaries. I had no symptoms. We are going to try naturally for one month and then back to IUI's.

Try not to worry too much. My doc said we are going to have a better chance now that the endo is removed. I was actually glad they found something minor.

I am fully recovered and its only been 6 days. I have two tiny scars now, but totally worth it.

Good Luck

My husband and I have been TTC for almost 3 years now. After one failed IUI and extreme pain that I have been experiencing since Sept. 2008 my re is now doing a lap on me Aug. 11th. I hope this fixes our infertility problem.

I've had endo since early 20s. I'd all the symptoms -- cramps between cycles, AF from hell. The symptoms have gotten much less or even disappeared for the last 5 years.

Lap does help increase fertility but it's not a guarantee. I'd one done in 2005 after my D&C, and I'm still trying. But it's worth it for your Dr to go in and take a look, as well as giving yourself a peace of mind.

Good luck!

I would definitely get scheduled for a lap sooner rather than later. My husband and I waiting 2 years of trying before getting the lap and it turned out I had stage 3 endo, I did have symptoms though. 3 months after the surgery I go pregnancy naturally but miscarried at 6 weeks. It was such a relief to just know that getting pregnant was possible! Now I just wish we would have done it earlier. Even with the m/c the future seems positive and I really believe we will be able to have our family we've been waiting for.
