Success getting prego after a lap and how long did it take?

Hi, I just had a lap a couple of weeks ago and to my surprise I have stage II endo and slightly dilated tubes. When I had my hsg done they had told me that I had hydrosalpinx and I was sure after surgery I was going to be left with no tubes. It's a miracle that I have both my tubes still and the doctor even thinks it's possible we could get pregnant naturally!! He gave us 4 months to try and then he wants us to proceed with something else. I was just wondering if anyone has had experience getting pregnant after a lap and how long did it take. Thanks !

I too just had lap surgery a few weeks ago, 8/27/09. DH and I have been trying to conceive for over 2 years now and it has been a long frustrating road for both of us.
I've heard lots of successful stories following removal of endometriosis so I am hopeful.

Hi I had a lap Aug. 2009...had stage III endo and after had to go on lupron for 4 months. I was eager to conceive after trying for 2 and a half years. My fourth menstrual cycle after the lupron treatments, i started getting anxious and went back to the doc. who told me to start treatment right away since my best chances to conceive were 6 months after the lupron.

I decided to give it a couple more months because my work situation wasn't too stable....got pregnant on month 7!!!! I am now 15 weeks along and of course very excited!! I read most women get preggers right after the lap and it was a little dissapointing that it didn't happen right away for me, but don't worry if you don't! If enodo. was your problem, give it a few months.

Best of luck!!

After trying for 3 1/2 years I had a lap done. I do not have endo...but had a lap on Dec 18, 2008 to rule out endo...nothing was found but dye was flushed through my tubes. We conceived naturally on Dec 30, 2008! Good luck!

Hello! I am in a similar situation...I had a lap done 1 week ago due to fluid in one tube and 2 failed ivf cycles. My RE made is clear that he will probably have to remove the fluid filled tube and that there is a potential that he may have to remove both tubes although HSG showed only one blocked tube. Turns out neither tubes were removed, i had inflamation and a cyst which he was able to remove and clear everything. My follow up apointment is on Wed and I am curious what my RE will recommend. He spoke with DH after my surgery and had mentioned that he would prefer we continue IVF route since my chances of a tubal pregnancy would be higher. I would prefer trying 1-2 IUI cycles.

Hi,thats great that they were able to unblock your tubes. Thats why the lap is great because the hsg is not always right. My doctor had said during my follow up that he had seen women in worse situations concieve naturally thats why he wants us to try first. If i do get pregnant naturally though i have to tell him right away and be monitored just in case of a tubal pregnancy. He said my tubes looked great but whether or not they function well is a different story. We are giving ourselves until january and then probably will go straight to ivf. They say after a lap your chances of conception increase. Good luck, if you trust your doctor then I would listen to him

I had a laparoscopy back in April of this year and 3 months after became pregnant naturally. That same month we were schedule to discuss IUI or other fertility options. Unfortunately, I miscarried at 6 weeks but we'd been trying to get pregnant for 2 years so it was very encouraging. We're in our 3rd month of trying after the miscarriage and are hoping it will happen quickly again.

Best of luck to you. Don't let yourself stress over it... it will happen!

Thanks Jersey. Good luck to you too. I have an apointment tomorrow so curious to see what my RE will want me to do. He seems to love IVF but I happen to hate it having the 2 failed cycles...
