Life after Lupron!

In April of last year I had surgery due to having endometriosis. I had a scheduled surgery but had emergency surgery two wks early. I woke of in severe pain went to ER and found out that my right fallopian tube was infected. I went right into surgery, my fallopian tube and right ovary had to be removed. Last month I finished my 6 month round of lupron depot. Just wondering if any one has lost and ovary due to endo? And if so what should I expect when it comes to trying to get pregnant? My husband and I really want a baby!
Thanks

I'm sorry you've had to go through this. I have not been through that and can't even imagine!! If you haven't yet, the first thing to do is get in touch with a reproductive endocrinologist (RE) in your area. They will be able to set up the best protocol for your situation. You will find that there are other women on this forum who are trying with only one ovary or one tube. Why they have one could be for various reasons, endo, ectopic, etc. I wish I could help you more. This endo forum tends to not get a lot of traffic so you may have better luck in other forums: IVF/IUI/Clomid.

Good luck!

Hi - Was just going to reiterate what slopes said. Post this in IVF as many of us have endo and have lost tubes or ovaries. I haev endo but have not experienced your situation. However, there are TONS of women on the IVF board who have similar situations and would be able to help.

Faithful09 – I’m sorry to hear about what you went through. I’m sure that was a very scary experience!
My hubby and I have been TTC for 4 years. My doctor tested me for many different things but never seemed to find a reason. We tried Clomid for more months than I can remember and also HCG trigger shots, but nothing ever worked. This summer my doc suggested that maybe we should do a lap to see if I had endometriosis. Turns out I do and it’s a bit more serious than he would have guessed – thanks to the endo my left fallopian tube is in pretty bad shape, but he did not remove it. I had my lap in August and started 6 months of Lupron shots immediately afterwards. I had my last shot on January 6th. My doc said that my period should return soon and if it hasn’t by the end of March he will induce it. He suggested that we try to get pregnant naturally for a couple months, thus I’m anxious for AF to return so I can start trying again. I’m not sure what my chances are but I’m trying to remain optimistic. Every month is a hardship when you’re TTC and you keep failing, so I almost relished the break that I received while I was on Lupron. Now it’s back to the rollercoaster ride….
How has your body been feeling since you ended the Lupron treatment? I’m curious to see what other people’s experiences have been. I’m still getting hot flashes at night, and for a while I was also getting headaches. This week I’ve been feeling a bit bloated and slightly crampy so I think maybe AF is on her way. My face has also been a lot oiler – my skin was so clear while I was on Lupron, another positive side effect that I will miss! Lol.
Best wishes to you!!

Annabelle1155-Thank you for posting. I too am sorry for everything that you have been threw. Im glad to here even though it was in bad shape that you got to keep you left tube! As for me after the shot. Im doing ok I guess. I also still have the night sweats and hot flashes during the day. They are not as bad as they where while I was getting the shots but still just as annoying. AF came the month after I stopped the shot it was barely there but still there. Before I had my surgery my cycles were very painful most times unbearable and so far the cramps have been very manageable. My skin was some what oily before the shot and I to am noticing that coming back. My body still feels a lil run down I feel tired more but Im hoping that all goes away real soon. Im glad to talk to some one else that had the shots because before I had mine I never heard of them. Hope all goes well and blessing to you and your husband.

Faithful - I had never heard of Lupron before either. I really never suspected that I had endo. I usually have bad cramps the first day or two of my period but I thought it was just normal since I hear many women complaining about their cramps. If it wasn't for our battle with infertility I may never have known what was going on in my body.

I was sooooo tired this morning that I could barely drag myself out of bed. I wish I could fast forward a couple months so that I wouldn't have to deal with the side effects of coming off the Lupron. I can't complain too much though - I read a lot of horror stories about Lupron but I was lucky enough to not feel many side effects while I was on it.

I was hesitant to start the Lupron treatment but the nurse who administered the first shot put my mind at ease. She told me that she also has endo and she went on Lupron before she got pregnant with each of her children. I was happy to hear a success story and felt determined that I should at least try it myself. I'm sad that so many of us have to go through this mess, but am always happy to hear when someone has won the battle.
