I'm new, severe endometriosis

Hi Everybody,
I'm 26 y/o I was first diagnosed with endometriosis a couple years ago; I've had endometriosis for such a long time, most likely since I was 14 yrs old; now it's to the point where it's pretty severe & since it's so severe I get recurrent ovarian cysts. Both of my tubes are blocked/dilated I also have some pain with my periods as well.

I never knew I had endo, until I had to have my 1st lapraroscopy (July 2006) done for a cyst on my left ovary. At that time, my dr. found a pretty big cyst that was on top of my uterus. It couldn't be removed, so the next month I had to have a laparotomy (August 2006) done.
At that time, my dr. had to remove half of my left ovary & half of my left tube.

A couple months later, after recovering from the laparotomy, I started having pain again; pretty much everyday. Feb. 2007. I had an ultrasound done, & another cyst was found on my left ovary. So In March 2007 I went back in for my 2nd laparoscopy.

During my follow up appt, my dr. told my husband & I that I would need IVF to get pregnant.
Before starting IVF I had an HSG test done, July 2007 it showed that both of my tubes were blocked.
I guess I've had endometriosis for so long that it's blocked my tubes.

In Sept. 2007, I started IVF. Before starting medication, I had an ultrasound done; It showed the cyst came back. So then I had a cyst aspiration done for the cyst.
With my first IVF cycle, I ended up getting 7 embryos, 4 were transferred back. I did get pregnant, but ended up miscarrying; due to genetic abnormality with the embryo.

I did my 2nd IVF cycle Feb/March 2008, I had to have another cyst aspiration done for another cyst. & with that I ended up getting 1 embryo which was no good & a ton of cysts.

Pretty soon, I am going to be doing my 3rd IVF cycle.

Lets see.... I've had 3 surgeries, which drs. say is a lot of surgery for a person my age. That's done quite a bit of damage to my ovary(s). I also probably have a lot of scar tissue from the endo & surgeries. My endo is pretty severe, It's blocked both my tubes, causes me to get recurrent cysts. I guess if you have severe endo you start getting hemorragic cysts.
It sucks because I've had surgery 3 times for a cyst, & pretty much after surgery I get another cyst.
After I was pregnant & miscarried, I ended up getting another cyst it formed in a couple of months.

Most of the time before having a bowel movement I start getting stomach pain.

I"m really hoping that I will be able to get pregnant with IVF cycle #3, I'm not sure if I could do another IVF cycle. Infertility drs. think that since I'm young, I have a really good chance of getting pregnant. The first time it did happen, but due to my husband's low sperm count/motility; I ended up miscarrying.
With my 2nd cycle, I was disappointed; due to getting only 1 embryo which was no good.

I'm wondering if any body here has endo & gone though IVF, how did that go for you?
Do you have blocked tubes?
Do you get recurrent ovarian cysts?
Pain with bowel movements?

Hi Bonnie -

Welcome to the forum! To answer your questions, yes yes yes and yes!

I don't have much time to write now, but feel free to PM me and we can talk. My signature tells most f my story, but I also had 2 surgeries plus elevated FSH levels, a Clomid Challenge Test, and an IUI (which I don't think are in my sig).

I'll check back on this thread later. Good luck to you!!

xoxo

Bonnie, I have pretty much everything that you described except for the cysts. (only a few small ones) I had my tubes cut after my first failed IVF due to spotting. After having this procedure (which was my 3rd lap) my RE completely switched my protocol and we got pregnant on our second IVF. I have found that several of the ladies here on the forum had their tubes removed due to fluid in the tubes which could have an effect on implantation.
