New User: Need a little help

I just registered on this site and would like to start talking to other women who are going through infertility treatments. first, I need help with some of the abbreviations, EX: BFN, BFP and various other ones. If anyone could maybe explain some important ones to know that would be helpful. I'm 28 and my husband is 30. My husband and I have been trying for over a year, which might not seem like a long time but to me feels like forever. I have endo. but have minimal scar tissur and no blockages. My husband has a good sperm count, mobilty, and quality. I have been using femara for 3 cycles without success and just started another cycle but added ovidrel to the treatment. I have been reading alot of threads and just want to say that I really feel for everyone going
infertility issues and I wish the best of luck to everyone. I have not seen anyone speak about Femara on the threads that I read, is anyone familiar with this drug?

Hi JennS,

If you go to the "Acronyms" (on the very top of the page) you will be able to find many explanations of abbreviations.
Sorry, I do not know anything about Femara.

Good luck to you too!

Hi Jenn and . First off, you can find a list of acronyms at the top of every page in the forum. BFN/BFP=big fat negative/positive. Secondly, I have mild endo too and my DH (dear hubby) has pretty normal counts. My RE wants me to do IUI with clomid and injectables. We'll be starting that process next week when AF (aunt flow/period) starts. I don't know about femera, I'll be using follistim. You've found a great place for support! I'm glad you're here!!!

Hey Jenn! I am doing femara and have for the last 3 cycles. I pair it with follistim (an injectible) and we have been doing IUI's. The femara is similar to clomid, but without as many side effects (supposedly). I still have hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings though. My dh has normal everything too and I have endometriosis.

Welcome to the group!

Stephanie, I wonder why some docs do clomid and some femera. My RE never mentioned femera. You would think if the side effects were fewer, they would use it!! Too bad you still have the side effects.

Hi JennS -
! We have so many wonderful people here, you're going to love it!

I did Femara (also called Letrozole) for a cycle after several Clomid cycles failed. My doc said that he tries the Femara/Letrozole when someone doesn't successfully get pregnant with Clomid. He said they don't know why it works sometimes instead of Clomid, only that it occasionally works where Clomid fails. For me, my Letrozole cycle failed completely and we went back to Clomid once more before moving to IVF. Hopefully it will be different for you! Good luck!

Hi Jenn! I also did the femara after 6 rounds of clomid. I didn't have the hot flashes but did have headaches. Welcome and good luck!
