Accurate Testing???

Hello Ladies - as I continue down the path of IF I keep second guessing and trying to make sure that I have all my angles covered. So here is my question - are the OPKs accurate. I usually have two days in which it says that I am ovulating. is it possible that I have the LH surge but I am actually not ovulating?

Thanks for the information, I really hope that I am not just second guessing myself. Thanks again, you girls are wonderful!!!

I think if you are getting a positive surge you are ovulating. I do know that certain conditions cause problems with OPKs, though. PCOS girls usually have higher LH, so they don't always work for us. It looks like they are probably accurate for you, though.

Good luck!

I agree, if you are getting a positive, you are ovulating. There is only a short window of opportunity that you are ovulating anyway so if you get a positive...get going and BD with your dear hubby. Opk's are pretty accurate.
Good luck to you!!

Sorry to disagree with everyone, but you can definately get a surge but NOT actually ovulate. Have you been temping as well? Your temps will show you whether you in fact ovulated. Or better yet, getting your prgesterone tested @ 7dpo, will tell you as well.

Sorry, but I thought I was always ovulating because I was getting positives on OPKs too. However, my RE threw me a curve ball when he told me he didn't think I ovulated every month and that OPKs are not always accurate!! Good Luck!

yes, I read that too.
OPK can help you predict the time where you might be ovulating, but only temperature can confirm that you have ovulated .
I think ideally you can use both method, one to predict, and TTC at the right moment, and Temp for reassurance that you ovulated...
good luck
