want to give away my meds

My cycle was canceled, had ordered meds, but no more use for me, I would like to give them to some one who don't have insurance coverage for meds, and can use them.
please reply me with the information on how many and what meds your RE ask you to get for your next cycle. I will let you know if I have the same ones, preferably in NYC area since some of the meds are fridge stored.

Well I am not in the NYC area, I am actually in Texas. I will do my next cycle of IUI in late december since I have to come up with some more money. For the IUI I will use Femara, Menopur and the HCG trigger.

If this does not work, I will be going to IVF in Feb, they have not told me yet what meds I will be using for that.

I am paying out of pocket for everything, kind of hard but I am sure one way or another I will be able to do it.

Sorry to be a "party pooper" but selling or even giving away fertility medications is illegal. The Board Moderator may jump in and comment on this thread to remind everyone of this.

It's a great thing that you are wanting to do, and something that I personally wanted to do with my leftover Follistim until I heard it was illegal. "Who would have thunk it" The best thing to do is to see if the Fertility Clinic you work with will accept the meds to donate to another patient who may be having financial difficulties. It really really really sucks that we just can't donate these meds to one of our virtual fertility sisters in need, but until they change the law.........I guess we have to be good.

Sorry about your cancelled cycle...much luck to you in the future.

Good luck Ladyki on your upcoming cycle. Hey, I just read on another website that some chick got $3,000 off or credit towards her injectible meds covered by the Compassionate Care Program. I'm going to find that info and post it here. I was happy to read this, but yet a little ticked that I did not hear about it before shelling out a crap load of money on my injectibles. But looking on the bright side, at least I can try to see if I qualify for this for my IVF cycle in Jan. I will go find the phone number in post it here just in case you are interested,

Thanks Logyn! As mentioned previously the selling, trading or buying of prescription medication is illegal and will not be tolerated on this forum. Please re-familiarize yourself with the terms and agreements of this forum community if need be. If you have left over medications please contact your RE for guidance as to what you should do with your leftovers. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

2nd thought

HI, dadtaylor,
I read your reply again, you mentioned "the selling, trading or buying of prescription medication is illegal", but I am not doing any of those in your list, so, please do point to me where I can find the terms and agreements again, I only saw it when I try to create an account, but I did not read the whole thing as it could be 100 pages long. Please pardon my misunderstood, could you also help me find the law which can tell me clearly it is indeed illegal to give away unused , unopened meds to someone needed?
I am happy to obey it and feel free to ban me or delet my post if you think my question is not valid or so, we are all here to cheering and helping each other, I have no 2nd intension.
Thanks,

Okay, I just have to say something here.

ivfforyou- Do you really think it is legal to give a drug that was prescribed for you to another person? Are you kidding me? I know people may do it, but it doesn't make it legal. A prescribed drug is only for the person on the label. Otherwise there would be no need for prescriptions. It is a way to control drug use.

I think you had good intentions when starting this thread, but now it seems like you are challenging the answers you were given. Time to let it go.

Thanks, dndtaylor

I really appreciate your help and effort. and I am sincerely apologize being not knowing the rules better before. We all her with good intentions, but not necessarily doing the right thing all the time. I have one last thing to ask: please help me delete this post, I could not find the way and excuse me being stupid.
on an other note: I don't think it's necessary to attacking people like Kathelen did in her last reply"Are you kidding me?" which who she wants to kidding I don't really care.
Ok, this will be my last note here, and I wish you all good luck!!!

in reply to this, for these purposes, it is also a way for the pharmaceutical companies to make as much money as they can. I mean really, meds for infertility run into the thousands of dollars per cycle.

Fertility drugs still very much need to be controlled and regulated. Imagine if everyone could get all the fertility meds they need for cheap or free? People could/would all be having 6 babies at a time. We need a doctor or someone else to control the amounts and the way they are used so that they are used properly.

If someone used fertility drugs inappropriately for their own body, they could cause real harm to themselves by over stimulation. OHSS can be dangerous. A doctor should be making those decisions and monitoring a person while they are using them.

There is no way to know by giving your meds to someone over the internet whether or not they have a prescription or if they will be under a doctors care when using the medication.

It is a nice thing to want to help out others who may be burdened by the cost of the meds.
We gave unused meds to our clinic who then were able to distribute it properly to some else who needed it.
