Naturally conceived in 2001.

Did one IVF cycle in 2008, i had high fsh and was on a boat load of meds. Meds alone cost me $5000!!! Total for meds and cycle was $17,000. We walked away with poor embryos and no baby. That money was ALL ours. From our savings acct which was a big fat $0 after that. We then borrowed $17K from my MIL for our adoption. There was no way i was spending all that money again without a baby. 2 years later we brought home our little baby boy from the hospital.

Now we want to have a third and i am looking at either donated embies or Donor egg refund program at Shady grove. 6 cycles, 30,000 if you dont take a baby home from the hosptial, you get your money back. And you can drop out of the program at any time with a full refund. I will have to pay for MY meds and travel on top of that 30K

Im so envious of people who have fertility coverage. I often think how different things would be if money wasnt a factor and our insurance company actually paid for IVF. That would jsut be such a huge blessing!!!

Anyways, at this point im leaning towards the refund because there is no way im spending that kind of money without a guarantee. 30K can go a long way towards raising a baby and putting them thru college. Sucks that we have to come up with that much just to HAVE the baby!!!
We cut expenses as much as possible. Where there's a will there's a way. Stop eating out, cut cable, lower internet speed, cell phone plan, Get a second job, you or hubby or both. That is the fastest way to save save save is to make more money. Doesnt have to be long term, even for a month or two can really add up after a while. we just paid off all of our debt including my MIL and if we cant save the money, we probably wont be doing it. we cant go back into debt for this unfortunetly. Either we will find a way to save 30K or we might adopt again because thats 10K less we would need and we get most of that back on taxes. our out of pocket expenses were only 6K for our adoption. Good luck,

My clinic does not have a payment plan and I am entirely selp pay. The fees were:

8,000-Cycle including u/s and bw and icsi
$500-embryo freezing and storage for 1 year
$300-anesthesia fee on retrieval day
$220-sperm freezing (DH was unable to come on retrival day)
$2,800 meds (stims only. post transfer meds are another expense but I pay only ins copay as they aren't specifically "fertility" drugs so ins pays

You should also consider misc expenses that can add up. My clinic is an hour away so there's gas and time. The main procedures were in an office two hours away in a major metropolitan area so besides gas we had 2 nights in a hotel, the night before retrieval and the night before transfer or we would have to get on the road at about 4am. If you need to finance there are companies that specialize in fertility treatments. One is springstone I believe. The key is to do your research. GL!

This is my first time posting...I'm not even sure what I'm doing. But we have been trying for over six years. I have two daughters that I brought into our marriage and we have adopted our son.

My husband was diagnosed with CBAVD about six months ago and we were devastated. My heart's desire is SOOO strong to be pregnant again. I cannot shake it. I have been all over the internet and have seen many different situations and stories. I'm hoping they can aspirate his sperm through Mesa and do an IUI. Even if it is less successful than ivf...atleast we are giving it opportunity to work. I found a clinic about an hour away that says they do it. We go for a consultation in a few days....Please pray for us.
