HELOC for IVF?

Anybody tried a home equity loan to finance their infertility work? I've looked into it and we definitely have the equity in our house and I can't imagine anything else I'd rather spend the money on. Is that desparate or reasonable? Let me know if you've used a HELOC for your treatments. Did you get second opinions before using the money or did you take advantage of one of those guaranteed programs?

Hey,

My husband and I have looked into getting a Home Equity Loan to finance our infertility - we just got approved and should hopefully be filling out the paperwork and getting the money soon.

I have struggled with the fact that this may be selfish on our part to go into debt to have a baby, but I have come to terms with the fact that there is no other way for us to have children and we have to atleast try IVF and if getting a loan is the only way to do it we are willing to do it.

Good luck on your decision.

Hi,
We are using credit cards and HELOC for our donor IVF cycle this month. It's a lot more reasonable than borrowing from your 401K or having to borrow from family or friends and a lot easier than getting a second job. Good luck!

Could somebody, please explane how this (using HELOC) works? We still thinking about where and how to get money for IVF, so all info would be helpful.
