Roth IRA early withdrawl for infertility treatment??

Is infertility treatment considered a "hardship" by the IRA people? Could I withdrawl money from my Roth IRA to finance treatment without paying a penalty? Any info on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know, but make up a reason they don't have to know what u r using that money for. Say u have to make a mortgage payment.

Julie,

That's a great idea! Worth looking into. If other diseases are considered a hardship, why not IF? Good thinking.

I know that the penalties for withdrawing your 401K has one reason as being 'medical expenses' so maybe the Roth is the same? I think that the expenses have to meet that minimum requirement, % of your income....but IVF usually does.

DUH, old post.....oh well, maybe bringing it to the top will help someone else out.
