Possible Source of Infertility Coverage

As I was reading some of the posts tonight, it occurred to me that some of you who post on here may be Veterans (sorry does not apply to Reservists or National Guard members unless activated for active duty, which most have been by now). While it isn't widely known, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA) does provide limited infertility treatment. I'm not sure of how far VA takes their infertility coverage, but if you or even DH (if male infertility is the issue) is a veteran, it's worth a try to look into it. At the very least the basic IF drugs would be covered and only cost $7.00 for a 30 day supply.

This is the web address to the VA page that lists the benefits available to women Veterans, VA Programs for Women Veterans - Women Veterans Health Program

I hope this helps someone, and if anyone has any questions about what VA does offer I can ask around and get back to you.

That's fantastic information. My husband served in the Gulf War in the Navy. We have very good coverage through his current employment, but this is a wonderful extra resource to look into.

Thank You for you service (I'm assuming you served)!

You're welcome for the information, but I did not serve, though my husband was also in the Navy, right after the 1st Gulf War. I just work at a VA hospital and happened to remember our women's health provider telling me once that we provide infertility treatments. I think we were complaining because the insurance options we're offered as employees don't cover much of anything to treat infertility.
