The cost..

Hello..I am not sure if this is where I need to postthis or not but I will give it a try..

I have been priced for IVF for 13,000.00 what I dont understand is this price for one try or until u actually get pregant?..

I have heard this is a very costly way to try and have a baby and there is much success either..

Any advice..

~Renee

Most likely it's the price for one try. You might ask your doctor if they have a shared risk program. Sometimes with these programs the prices are increased but they cover more cycles. My first and only IVF was priced at $14,500 however we didn't make it to transfer and I really researched my meds for the best prices so in the end I only spent $10,500. They should give you a breakdown of the costs involved. It's so much for blood work and ultrasounds, a rough estimate for the amount you'll pay in the fertility drugs, a price for the egg retrieval, processing in the cytology labs and then the egg transfer. I hope this helps.

My situation is different, but I thought I'd chime in. My cost was approx 25K, not including meds. Keep in mind that mine was a donor cycle. Meds were another $4000.00. So we are pretty up there.

Hello again Renee,

I posted on your other thread not sure if you had a chance to read it. I thought I'd also jump in and let you know what our cost is. IVF procedure is costing us $11,150 plus the cost of meds-$2400. The cost of meds will vary with each person. And as Jen said, the cost only covers one cycle.

Hope that helps you.

I start my ivf in july and the cost here at penn fertility is 10,215 not including the meds.
We're paying out of pocket so I hope it works the first time but if not we'll save up again and try some more.

good luck.

Just a word of warning - if your insurance does not cover infertility or any medicines that quote that they give you could be low. I was quoted about $12,000 and with medicines, monitoring, etc. our final bill was well over $15,000. We had to save up for a long time for this opportunity and thank god it worked because we only could afford this one shot - I think that is why I am on pins and needles to this day hoping that it works out!
