Audra - thanks - I started bleeding as a delayed reaction to stopping the bcp. They are upping my estrace and adding the vaginal estrace - never done that before...

casb77 - thanks, are you having an u/s tomorrow about your bleeding? Or did they decide it was OK?

Megan - Congratulations and Congratulations!

Hi Everyone!

Hopefulmama-I think I really want to try the acupuncture. I don't probably have time to do before my transfer on Friday, but maybe I will start it after. It's worth a try, right? I go to the Stony Brook office usually, but my transfer will be out of Mineola. I am sure they will have places and/or doctors they can recommend. I am transferring two.

PS...Is the acupuncture painful???

Linz-Congrats on starting the patches! You are on your way! We are all in the same time frame!

Yolie-Dying to know how it went!!! I am sure well. Take some TLC, even though I heard it doesn't really matter (According to Dr. Stelling). The embies are not going to go anywhere anyway. Walk, get up, bathroom, they won't leave... I think everyone has that feeling that they are going to fall out...LOL.

I hope everyone is well, and hello to all the new people!

Kim

Megan congrats on the twins. You must be so excited.

Lizlaw-sorry about the delay but it's better to delay than to put your embabies back before you're ready.

AFM, Our embabies thawed perfectly and were all 8 cell when we transferred them. I'm oficially PUPO with triplets and the 2WW begins. I'm praying this is it for us.

Sorry if I missed anyone I'm laying in bed even though my RE doesn't believe in bed rest. I will probably take tomorrow off too and then back to work on Thursday.

Some questions!

I just had my BFN after my first IVF cycle and am wondering about FET. I am concerned about my eggs, I made a lot of them (they retrieved 29) but only 18 of them fertilized (they froze 8 after the initial fertilization). Then, of the remaining 10, we transfered 2 on day 4 because they weren't compacting as fast ats they wanted. Of the remaining 8, only one made it to blast and was in good enough shape to be frozen.

I'm just concerned that my eggs just aren't good enough and that what I have won't survive the thaw. Does anyone have any similar experiences? I can take it if it's negative, I just need to know.

I am also wandering about assisted hatching with FET. I've read about possible birth defects due to AH and am scared, but through all the IUI's and the IVF I have never gotten pregnant and am figuring that that is the next step.

Thank you for all your help.
Amy

Not particularly. If a needle hurts, it usually just hurts for a brief second.

I'm sorry to hear about your BFN.

Have they given you any reason or ideas why the IUIs and IVF didn't work? Why you never got pregnant? It seems that they shouldn't have done eight IUIs without some sense that would be successful ... Has your RE measured your egg quality?

As for thawing, it seems to be that they more recently they were frozen, the better thaw rate they have. Did your RE give you your lab's thaw rates?

AH hasn't really been connected to birth defects, except if you count the higher rate of identical twins and identicals have an inherant higher rate of problems.

We haven't talked about egg quality yet, as I have not gone back for my consultation yet after the IVF failure.

my ultrasounds and lining always looked good. We just thought it was timing. We finally thought IVF was next and that it would be successful.

Congrats on the twins Megan!

Liz – Yes, I’m having an ultrasound tomorrow at 7:30am. I do so love starting my day that way. Good luck with the extra estrogen. I hope it does the trick for you!

Good luck Yolanda! Even if your RE doesn’t require bed rest, you wouldn’t want to wonder if that’s what went wrong later. Besides, you deserve a little time to just hang out and relax.

Amy – I’m so sorry about your BFN. That sucks. I don’t have any answers to your questions, just wanted to welcome you to the thread.

Megan Congratulations!!

Kim It doesn't hurt and you can still do it the day of transfer right before and right after. I can give you the name and number of the lady they recommend in Mineola. It's $80 per session if you pay in cash, $85 with credit card. You can pm me if you want the info.

Yolie Congrats on being PUPO!!

charltac Well I'm with Irena in wondering if they tested your egg quality. If there is an issue there I heard that acupuncture can help if you start it a couple of months before egg retrieval with an apist that specializes in IF. My RE always uses ah with frozen cycles and never mentioned birth defects. It seems to work for us. FET does work even after a fresh cycle doesn't. I had a chem preg with my fresh cycle and then conceived twins this cycle but one twin never had a hb. I know everyone thinks IVF will just work but obviously it doesn't always work the first time. I think if the one made it to blast the thaw survival is the same as any other blast which (depending on the lab) is pretty good.
