1st FET
Hi everyone, I am joining in because we hopefully will start our FET cycle in the next couple months. After a
on 8/22 from IVF, we have 2 totsicles chillin' out. We go see our RE for a followup in 2 weeks and then she said we will decide on when to take the next step. Can anyone tell me what to expect for the FET? Are the meds the same and is there any advice on anything that could help us out?

Ditto what Joanne said, the FET's are SO much easier than a fresh IVF cycle. I started taking estrace (estrogen) pills 3 times/day on day 3 of my first cycle after my BFN. I specifically requested pills over those *#$&% patches. I had one u/s & b/w appt. on 8/25 and since all was fine, we're on track for a Sept. 11 transfer. If my progesterone wasn't being suppressed enough by the estrogen pills, I would have had to start Lupron and the transfer would be in early Oct. I'll have one more progesterone test on 9/5 and that's it for appts. prior to transfer. On 9/5 I cut down to 2 estrace/day and add 2cc of PIO/day. That's twice the dosage I was on for my fresh cycle. I add in the antibiotics for the transfer, too, and that's it for meds. No mixing, no morning & night shots, no repeat stirrup performances. It will almost feel like you're not doing anything compared to your fresh cycle.
Women also sometimes have more success with FET if their clinic only freezes blasts and their fresh cycle was a 3-day transfer. Sometimes the embryos that look the best on day 3 and get transferred may not have been the best at day 5. I think my nurse told me that if this FET doesn't work I'll have to wait a full cycle before doing another fresh IVF cycle, but don't quote me.
