Krissy,
I take prog shots. But I do know that there are reportedly less side effects when its done vaginally. I was also told that it absorbs into the system better vaginally. Hope this helps.

Everyone,(here are some random tidbits)
I have been told more than once not to drink or eat anything too cold for a few days following transfer. The cold stuff requires more blood to go to stomach and abdomen which can take away from the nice warm uterus where snow babies are trying to attach..

Also heard fresh pineapple has a chemical or enzyme that may help people conceive...so maybe would work for us too!

I too heard that pineapple help implantation and the magic chemical is in the core of pineapple, but too much pineapple is not good. I got the receipt from anther forum:
One pineapple cut into five pieces, each day have one piece (make sure eat with the core) from 2days before transfer.

Hi Girls,
I'm looking to join an April IVF group. I have been given the green flag to start my stims next week..when my comes to visit. This has been the first month I have actually been excited to get my period. My DH and I have been trying to conceive for over 3 years. To make a long story short...he had a testicular torsion as a kid. It caused severe blockage and damage to his epiditimis. We had TESE done back in Feb and got some great sperm for IVF . After our first visit with our RE (bloodwork & ultrasound) we learned my FSH was through the roof (18.3). Today we met with him for a second consultation and genetic testing. My doctor was shocked about my fsh given my young age. He said since all my other bloodwork came back perfect, and I had 9 follies showing on my ultrasound, he thinks there is a chance I may have a genetic deformity called "polymorphisism." That means your body thinks that your ovaries are in failure and therefore increases your fsh, when in fact you are healthy with normal egg counts. I am praying that this is the case. My doctor regardless wants to be agressive just in case my eggs are in fact as bad as my fsh is claiming. I will begin my meds next week. I'll be on follistim pen, menopur, ovidrel and ganirelix. After my ER, the doctor wants to do PGD on the embryos to test for any genetic abnormality. After my ER, I'll have to wait 6-8 weeks for my ET. It will be a long cycle...I could really use some support. Looking forward to chatting with all of you.

I do them vaginally...doc thinks it get to where it needs to better...I hate it...it's such a mess..I wear a p/l just in case...I just renewed my prescription...insurance change...$75 buckaroos..uggg..but it' worth it

afm - nothing...been feeling good..I may poas on Sunday too..I did to be sure shot was gone...it is LOL

Hi Mouse! You are more than welcome to join our group, but just so you know... we are all doing FETs (or frozen embryo transfers) this month.

If you don't mind my asking... why will it be 6-8 weeks between your retrieval and transfer? Usually PGD testing is done 3 days post transfer and then you have a 5day transfer (5 days after retrieval).

As I said, you are MORE than welcome to join.. but there is another IVF board that might have more women in your situation!

Thanks for letting me know. They're waiting 6-8 weeks because they are going to be extracting DNA from my embryos. I may have a very rare chromosonal disorder. Very rare that it's almost unheard of. It was just recently discovered. My doctor enrolled me in a research study at his office. There is no risk to my embryos and they will pay for all my genetic testing. If I opt not to do it...then there is a possibility my eggs may have an abnormality and it won't be discovered with just regular assisted hatching. We'd be taking a big risk. It's completely complicated. I thought my RE called it PGD, but I could be wrong. My husband and I were caught off guard today with all this info. Good luck on your FET.

Wishing09 – Last cycle I was in pain for the entire two weeks, and that was not good. Two cycles ago I had some slight cramping and had a low beta pregnancy which ended in a loss. You just never know, maybe feeling nothing means that everything is working as it should! Hang in there, sending your way!

NorthEastGirl – I am sorry I know the progesterone hurts. I cried hysterically when the RE told me during my fresh cycle that I was going to have daily shots. The good news is that that means you’re on your way. Hang in there!

Coleren – Welcome! Just a few more days to wait, Monday will be here before you know it. Any symptoms?

Nbianca – How was your transfer? I have been thinking and praying for you today.

Krissymexico – My RE gave me the choice of taking my estrogen vaginally this cycle but warned me that it could cause side effects. I opted to continue both my estrogen and progesterone through shots. My RE said that the shots ensure that the body absorbs it and vaginally was second best and orally third for ensuring that the body absorbs the hormones. The shots are a “pain in the butt” (literally) but I thought I’d better do everything I could to increase my chances.


As for me, I had some bad news today. I was supposed to transfer two day 3 embryos but neither were viable after the thaw. I have only three day 5 embryos (blastocysts) left and we're going to thaw those and transfer on Sunday.

I have to wonder if my RE knew they weren't very good, because this is my third frozen egg transfer cycle and he has never even mentioned what we would do if any of the embryos weren't viable after the thaw. Last week at my u/s appointment he told me that if there was a problem with the two day 3 embryos, we'd thaw the day 5 blastocysts and transfer two days later.

I am extremely upset today, not because of the delay but because these 3 are my last 3, they represent my last chance. My DH is trying to be supportive, but reminded me that we can't afford adoption now after all the costs of fertility treatments (our insurance covers absolutely zero).

My DH keeps saying be positive for Sunday, but I have to admit I am very discouraged and I just want to cry!
