Help! No Assisted Hatching w/ blastocyst transfer?

Hi! I'm about to go through a frozen embryo transfer with my one single blastocyst embryo that's been frozen for years. I was told I don't need assisted hatching since it's a blastocyst transfer and I forgot to ask why. Can anyone tell me why. Wouldn't it be better to have the help of hatching? This is my last chance.

blastocyst

I don't know for sure but a guess-- maybe it is because it was almost hatched on its own?

My doc always does AH on FET because the freezing process makes the shell harder...

Guess I would ask my doc to not say "no" until after the embryo thaws and he looks at the shell... and cells...
I meant to ask how my shells were looking... but when you have your legs up in the air and everyone focusing on your crotch it is hard to keep focused... We had AH... our embryos were only day 3 frozen.

Best Wishes!

My RE doesn't typically do AH on the 5day frozen transfers unless they see that the shell is abnormally hard.

This is more of an 'in the moment' decision at my clinic.

4/29 #1 (6w): 2 sacs, no HBs yet!
4/30 #2 (6w+1): spotting. saw 2 HBs! B's sac measuring smaller than A's.
5/4 #3 (6w+5): heavy bleeding over wknd. A's HB 136, B's 113. B's sac still very small - possibly non-viable.
5/8 #4 (7w+2): Baby A grew 4mm, HB 138. Baby B grew 3 mm, HB 134. Still told to expect to lose Baby B since his sac is so small.
5/13 #5 (8w): Baby A grew - has arm & leg buds and even moved a little! HB was 186. Baby B grew also - HB was 164. Still told we will lose him.
5/20 #6 (9w): Baby A wiggling around. Baby B - no HB.
5/26 #7 (9w+6): Baby A is perfect and wiggly!

due: 12/23/09 - Pretty baby, don't you leave me. I have been saving smiles for you

Coleren - I had the same question for my Doctor. This is what he said. AH is done with 3 day embryos coz the outer shell is thick. He would not recommend doing AH for blast unless the outer lining is very thick. If the lining is thin, it will do more harm to the embryo if they disturb the cells. I hope this helps.
