Question on FET timing -consecutive attempts?

Hi All,
Just wanted to bounce this off of you knowledgeable ladies...I am coming off a failed fresh (well, chemical), then an immediate failed frozen.

I am currently at a cross road. Should I just take the summer off to exercise, save money, have a glass of wine or two, take some baths and enjoy my fiance? Or do I continue to press onward because I have 23 frozen embabies waiting for a chance? We did a single transfer with the fresh because of OHSS and 2 with the frozen.

Anyone have luck on B to B FETs?

Also, I am thinking that next cycle we should transfer 3. Any advice on that too?

Thanks

Wow 23 frozen? That's great!

Our first FET failed. We do medicated cycles so by the time we did our next one (which was technically back to back - started BCP 2 days after AF came after failed IVF) it was 6 weeks later.

That was the lucky one! We're now 6 weeks pregnant with twins!

BETA #2: 10dp5dt = 332

4/29 #1 (6w): 2 sacs, no HBs yet!
4/30 #2 (6w+1): spotting. saw 2 HBs! B's sac measuring smaller than A's.
5/4 #3 (6w+5): heavy bleeding over wknd. A's HB 136, B's 113. B's sac still very small - possibly non-viable.
5/8 #4 (7w+2): Baby A grew 4mm, HB 138. Baby B grew 3 mm, HB 134. Still told to expect to lose Baby B since his sac is so small.
5/13 #5 (8w): Baby A grew - has arm & leg buds and even moved a little! HB was 186. Baby B grew also - HB was 164. Still told we will lose him.
5/20 #6 (9w): Baby A wiggling around. Baby B - no HB.
5/26 #7 (9w+6): Baby A is perfect and wiggly!

due: 12/23/09 - Pretty baby, don't you leave me. I have been saving smiles for you

I have to start this reply by saying "23" frozen...you are one lucky girl
If I were you, I would continue and proceed with the frozen transfer, but that's just me. I felt an immense amount of pressure, b/c if it didn't work, it may take more time to move on again to the next FET. After my 1st failed (chemical) I had to wait about 2.5 months to even prepare for the FET, not sure what your time line is like. Is your RE letting you decide on the # to transfer? The only reason I ask is that at my clinic based on my age and history 2 was the max they would but back it...as I type this I also think it may depend on embryo quality, 3 vs. 5 day and even more.

I think whatever decision you make it will be right for you. If you do proceed ahead and do the FET and you get a - you will never regret it! Best of luck

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement! Seeing you have a little one on the way gives me great hope. That is so awesome!

My RE wanted to do 3 but we thought that was 2 was better. Hindsight of course is 20/20 and we should have done 3.

I also had a chemical pregnancy. It was such a letdown. Can you tell me if you felt the same symptoms on your chemical cycle as you did on your successful FET?

We transferred 3 for both of our FETs. We honestly didn't change anything bewteen our first and second except for the second I stayed on bedrest for a full 48 hours (no showers, only getting up to pee), layed on my left side (to promote bloodflow to the uterus), ate pineapple (especially the core, said to help with implantation), and prayed to St. Gerard.

Good luck!

In the April FET group... toward the last page I posted a pic of our twins!

Maybe - there are the most adorable little beans. You need to change your name now I ate the pineapple but not the core. Maybe that is my problem. You can really drive yourself batty with all of this....but anything that can help.

I think we will go for 3 next time. Thanks again for giving me feedback. I wish you a wonderful pregnancy.

Hi B - It sounds like you made a wise decision. It seems to be what you needed mentally and physically. I wish you a very successful summer FET!

Have you made a decision about your next FET cycle yet? I'm curious to know...suffering with the same dilemma. I've also made several attempts, 3 months of clomid, one IVF and two FET...all failed. My last FET was on May 6th, pregnant as of the 15th and NOT pregnant as of 18th...it's the furthest I've ever gotten. I only have two frozen embryos left and no clue what to do.

I am new to this side and not used to the abbreviations yet :-)
Just finished my first FET and it came back negative. Period started this morning and I am going to call the Dr to see if I can to back to back FET since I really don't want to keep on waiting. Hope they will ok it!

Hi Malone,

I was on the 'August FET' thread with you for a little bit. I am doing another FET this month. If you look at my signature, that should give you a timeline. I too was fortunate to have had a 'chicken farm' of embies! I'm now down to 10 snowbabies. This time around I'm on BCP instead of taking Lupron injections; I'm also going on increased doses of Folic Acid (at the moment on 2x normal, but doc may give me more).

Just got back from vacation last week and it was wonderful to relax and enjoy a few glasses of vino! But I'm on to another cycle as I'm not getting any younger and I don't want to wait. My best to you on your next attempt regardless of when it may be!

Hi all

NH - good luck with your appointment. I have found that FET's are way less stressful.

Cali - It is so nice to hear from you. I am glad you could enjoy yourself. Best wishes with this cycle.
I am interesting in hearing about your protocol this month. I have done natural FET's, which really only meant progesterone after transfer. Yes, I am trying again in October. But this time, we are doing a medicated cycle. My RE has prescribed 2 weeks BCP and then lupron til I bleed.

Thanks Malone, got the ok from Dr and am now back on estrogen, baby aspirin and after the ultrasound progesterone. FET is scheduled for Oct10th - I will try the pineapple cores this time around :-)
