Thanks Teacher Tara
Sweatpea, Thanks your so sweet! Here is my Story I've been married since 1999 and came of birth control in 2003. I wasn't trying, just not preventing. We started trying in 2006, not serious trying! Then we moved back to my country (my hubby is a yank and i lived in Denver, Colorado for about 10 years) In 2006 that's when we really started to get serious . I went to the fertility clinic in 07 (only one in Christchurch so I'm still at that same clinic) They put me on clomid straight away because of how long I'd been married I think I did 3 rounds and I was a crazy psycho b**ch on it! Then I did the HSG test and that's when they fould my problem. I have a stenotic cervix (very tight cervix) so the clinic told me this is probably why I'm not getting pregnant naturally Did a IUI-horrible experience as they had trouble geting the cathater through my cervix so I was told that went horibly wrong let's go straight to IVF. This was all happening in 07 and then low and behold I got pregnant naturally Jan 08(was shocked) then m/c at 6 weeks Tried again for a while and then thought bugger this lets do IVF, started in June, did all the drugs, go in for the scan and I only had 3 follicles so they cancelled it Started again in September on higher dose of drugs and then I get 14 follicles transfered 2 blastocysts but it didn't work! But then I get pregnant naturally AGAIN I get to the second trimester and life is great I bloody made it FINALLY . Low and behold my bub is not well and has a severe hurniated diaphram, he will be stillborn at birth as lungs, stomach and bowel can't function. We lost Charlie at 18 weeks on Feb 28th, it literally wripped my heart out, I'm still not over it but I don't think I will ever be. (RIP my little man) So then DH and I just decided to let's get pregnant straight away and do a FET cycle in July! We'd been through enough!! We thought we would try one more time before the FET and **** it Worked I'm 31/2 weeks pregnant and my beta results today are good.So aparently my stenotic cervix is not an issue and the Doctors were wrong (good way to make some cash for them though) Gosh sorry this is long but so is my story. Sending Baby dust to all of you.

Jewel - I'm so sorry about your results. I hope God has a wonderful plan for you and that you are given the strength to continue.
Leo - Congrats to you! Very exciting. Can't wait to hear more good news from you. AFM - AF was slowly showing up yesterday but still not full flow. My RE's office will not consider it day one until it's full flow. So I'm still in a little bit of a limbo, but I think it will be either today or tomorrow. I'll do bcp for 21 days and doxy for 10. Then the real fun begins. The bummer is that my transfer will fall right on my nephew's birthday and I'm going to have to miss it. But fortunately, it will fall right during my break from work: summer works ends and I have 5 days before next work begins. Perfect for just laying around at home! Oh, and I'm back from DC with a broken ankle!! Absolutely sucks. I was only in DC for about 6 hours before I fell on a crooked sidewalk. I'm still hobbling around today and dreading going to the doctor. I'm going to give it until next week maybe. Or maybe Friday of this week. I went to the ER in DC and they said it was broken, but not severely. I'm hoping it fixes itself soon. to all of you. Let's Get This Party Started!!

Leolady, Thank you so much for sharing your journey. Theres something so nice about hearing what others have been through, and seeing their successes. Congratulations. And youre right, that steno.. cervix sounds like its not an issue! yay!
Rebecca, I cant believe what happened to you in DC! Im so sorry. I cant believe you were only there for six hours and then had to return. Not a very fun trip! Are you in alot of pain? or taking something? All-well, we got back from our trip to Laguna Nigel on Sunday night and it was so fun! Short, but Im glad we took the chance to take off. We saw a few relatives, and a few old friends, spent some time at the beach, and ate out alot. I guess Im a little tired still, bc we really packed the days, but I needed the break. hope everyone is doing great!! Anyone read that Stephen Colbert (did I get that name right) issue of Newsweek? silly. |

Jewel - Hope you are doing okay. I just went through what you did. Am praying for you and DH.
Leolady - congrats!!! I cannot believe your message about the stenotic cervix. I am going through the same thing right now. It took 30 min for my first IVF ET. I was even in tears because the catheter hurt so bad. Needless to say it was a BFN. Now we are moving on to FET at the end of July. I am having a cervical dilation and saline US to help dilate the cervix so that we do not have difficulty this time. I actually found a study on the internet about women with previously failed IVF due to this stenosis and the dilation actually aided in pregnancy for a good number of the women in their second round. You've definitley had a long road and I really pray and hope for your little one. Sweet Pea - Thanks for the private email!!! My husband and I actually wanted to do a closed adoption in the beginning but 3 months after our home study was complete we got the call. Our birthmom was 28 and had a 5 year old, she just could not afford another child. She wanted to talk to us on the phone and meet before hand. It was soooo SCARY, but we all hit it off. We were their for the birth and got to feed and change Kai for the first time in his life. The birthmom roomed in with him for 3 days (brutal for us) and on the 3rd day we went to a location and signed the papers and took him home at 3 days old. Believe it or not I actually took hormones to breast feed and was able to do it for a month. It was amazing for us to bond. We finalized the adoption in March and actually had a vist with the birthmom so she could see how much he had grown. All still scary but really wanted her to heal as much as possible. Now we just send pics and letters every so often till he is 18. He is almost crawling and babbling like crazy. He is our true BLESSING from God and we are soooo thankful for him...sorry for such a long message. As for me. I am having my dilation and saline ultrasound tommmorow. I get my official schedule so I am excited!!! Wishing you all the BEST!!!!

Hey girls!
I am hoping to jump in here... we are planning our FET for late July or early August (I think) I just started BCP on Monday. We have had 2 IVF cycles, one BFN and one ending in a major ectopic. I was rushed to the hospital (from my school - I'm a teacher) - how embarassing!!! When we got there, they took me into surgery right away, thinking they could resolve the problem laproscopically - but no deal. I was bleeding too much internally - they had to cut me open - like a c-section in order to stop the bleeding and remove my left tube.... Anyway we are ready to use our 3 embies!!!! This is my first post - I am glad to have all of you as support - I have been reading these forever, but I am excited to join in - I think it will be just what I need ![]()

Amison, So glad to have another July buddy! My jaw dropped when I read your story--about the ectopic, leaving your school, and then having to have a major operation! wow. How dramatic! what grade do you teach? I bet your kids thought it was dramatic too! Well, I for one hope you're a big poster! I love to hear whats going on with the people on the thread, especially the new ones! So, make yourself at home! |

Thanks Sweet Pea...
Like I said, I think this is exactly what I need to get thru this whole process. The ectopic was a nightmare. I haven't even heard of that from an IVF and my RE said he hadn't had it happen in over 5 years - great - I guess I am just that special HA HA HA I teach 8gh grade, so my kids knew something was wrong. I just felt so sick - I had someone come down and cover my class - and I just walked out. The kids were taking a test, my stuff was everywhere - I didn't even say anything to the sub - just left and didn't come back for 3 weeks. (It should have been longer, but the surgeon released me to go back after 2 weeks, and like a good little girl, I did, but I was feeling physically stronger - or so I thought ![]() I left the class and went to the nurse, who took my blood pressure and it was 65/32 - and she freaked out and called the ambulance. Which, as embarassing as was, probably saved my life. At the hospital, which was not my hospital, but closest to where I teach, they did a beta and my numbers were 21,000 (my RE tought twins) - can you belive that! And they couldn't find the ectopic on the ultrasound - I guess - because my ovaries were so large from the stims. So, they decided to go in and see what in the world was going on. In the meantime, I started to get major pain throughout my chest and stomach area - so bad, I couldn't breath or move. It turns out that was the internal bleeding part - who knew it was so painful ![]() After the surgery, they told me I had lost nearly 2 liters of blood, and, of course, I had to have a transfusion - 4 bags of new blood!!! YUK! Let's just say I have a new found respect for all the girls who have C-sections AND a newborn to take care of... that has to be tough - that incision is major. When I came back to school, I only told the kids that I had the flu - the really bad flu - which they thought was strange, because I never miss school. The healing process is a long one, and if you can believe it, my husband had pneumonia at the same time I got home from the hospital - we both ended up at my parents house since neither one of us could take care of ourselves. It is almost comical, you just have to laugh, or you will never stop crying ![]() I am sure there is a reason that all this happened, it is just difficult to wrap my brain around all of it sometimes. Especially when everyone I know seems to pop up pregnant without even trying. My DH is great, he keeps saying, "you were pregnant, we'll get there again." He is so positive!! Anyway, that is the long version, but it feels good to tell the story to people who might actually understand the pain - physical and mental...

Amison, I too have had an ectopic. The worst day of my life and more pain than I have ever felt! Sorry that happened to you. Good luck with the new procedure/s. My blast/FET is July 1. Had my lining check yesterday, almost double what it should be!!! I didn't get nervous until yesterday and was giddy all day. Hoping for the best! Good luck to all!

Hi Amison
Leo How are you feeling? Hi Sweetpea I could not agree with you more about being out there TTC. It takes something away. How are you Seaya? Did you get your plan? As for me I go in Thurs. for a baseline US and BW. I started lupron and predisone. My DH and RE only want to transfer 3 blasts I want to try 4. Only because we have been doing 3 each time. I say up it by 1. What do you guys think? I hope everyone is doing well and all are in my thoughts and prayers for BFP's for all! |

Luci - so sorry for your ectopic - but super excited that you are having your transfer in 2 days! and great news about your lining!!!!
Tara - you are just a few days ahead of my cycle. I go in on Monday for BW and US and I think start Lupron on the 8th. We are just anxious to get going! I say go for the 4 blasts... I would want to be more agressive too! I know REs get nervous about transferring too many, but it gets so frustrating when nothing seems to be working! I vote go for it!
