Lovenox/Heparin?

Hi!

I have had 3 chemical pregnancies in the past and my RE has me taking Lovenox/Heparin this cycle. We transferred 2 frozen embabies this past Tuesday (the 16th) and I began the injections that day. I just wondered if anyone has had experience with this medication before?

First of all, any successes after previous loss?

Also, I seem to be bruising on my legs since I began the shots (not at injection sites). Does this medication tend to make you bruise easier?

Thanks to anyone with info!

I have the same question

Hi Kristin,
I have had two chemical pregnancies. One was from a fresh and one was from a frozen. I had the Recurrent Loss Bloodwork done and tested positive for hetero MTHFR. My RE is putting me on Lovenox for my next FET in July. However, he does not believe that is what caused my chemical pregnancies. Both my fresh and frozen cycles were perfect. So I am thinking they are related.
IF my blood is clotting I would think there would be obvious correlation.

Did you have that bloodwork done? Did he also suggest upping your Folic Acid and B6. My RE did not but I am anyway.

Good luck to you. I know the pain of finally getting a BFP only to have a low beta. I really think the Lovenox might do the trick for me in July.

Yes, your bruises would be related to the injections you are doing. The drugs are blood thinners and thus you have to be careful because you'll bruise easier and if you get cut, it'll take longer to stop...

Good luck with this cycle!!!

I have been on Heparin for the past 6 weeks now, twice daily. I give mine in my belly and it looks like a war zone.........i can't remember why i am on it, some type of clotting thing. I am also on baby aspirin, vit D, extra 4mg of Folic, calcium, estrace, metformin, prenatal....it's alot to keep track of....good luck!

Malone,

The only bloodtesting we did was a chromosone check on my DH and I - and that came back fine. My RE said that rather than doing all of the testing, we would just give the Lovenox a shot since it would be the result of the testing anyway if there was a clotting problem. Does that make sense? :0)

My RE didn't mention upping the vitamins, but maybe I will up my Folic and B6 too - that is a good idea.

Best wishes to you in July! It is such a diffucult journey to be on - UGH chemical pregnancies......

Thanks for everyone's responses!

My ob/gyn and my perinatologist have told me that the new standard for folic acid in pregnancy is 4-5mg per day. It has been discovered that folic acid not only prevents nural tube defects but also prevents childhood cancer. Best of luck. Also, with the heparin...My hematologist has said that APS causes disordered implantation, often leading a doctor to label a pregnancy as chemical. Heparin keeps your blood from clotting during implantation and in the placenta where your babies oxygen and nutrients will be coming from. Heparin worked for me, the only two times I have carried a pregnancy to term after being pregnant eight times.

Bunniswife,

Thank you for your response. It was so insightful and helpful! I am hopeful that the Lovenox will help me as it did you. I don't like the term "chemical pregnancy" - it makes me feel like drs and people don't credit that there was actually a living being there that was lost.

I also read your signature and I am so sorry about the loss of your son. I hope that you are healing and I am praying for you!

Thanks, Malone.
My beta was a 2.1 - so negative. I am so discouraged and not sure what to think. I'm almost jaded and not surprised - I wanted to be surprised by it being positive! Not sure what to think and my RE is on vacation until the 13th! Thanks for thinking of me.

So sorry

I am so sorry that it did not work out this time. It is such a crushing feeling.

I know that nothing I say can make it better, but I am thinking about you.
