Kitty- I will be praying for you. I am with Kay, if they saw a sac a hint of a sac, in the utereus, (btw, I didn't think they could see VERY MUCH AT ALL, until the beta was over 1500)... which might explain the fact that it is little, and nothing much there. And, with the beta rise, it slows once it reaches a certain point. Let this week be a growing, nurturing week for your little embie, and you are right, it's in God's hands... just as all of this is... we just all forget that sometimes, I am just as guilty as anyone. We will be counting down for my beta, and your sac US which will be a BIG HUGE sac with a little blob in there!

Leslie- Thanks for the kind words of encouragement.

A good cry and some web research has left me feeling slightly better, but it's all out of my hands now.

Please, Lord, protect us! One strange thing (I am really superstitious, admittedly stupidly so), I got home from work (I take a train out of NYC to home) and got to the parking garage where my car is and for some reason looked up. I saw a tiny sliver of a rainbow in an area right near my house. It didn't even rain today! It was sunny all day. I took a picture with my BlackBerry, sent it to DH, and then it was gone. Thank God for photographic evidence! I am praying that's the Big Guy telling me it's going to be OK.
Kitty: That doctor sounds horrible!!! Way to scare you...silly, I am rooting for you. Did you transfer 3? Well maybe your doc is thinking you should have higher beta numbers if you have multiples but maybe you only have a singleton...or you did have two or three at the very beginning but now only one? That could be the slower rise in beta.

But there is a rise and there is a sac. Believe in that. And the rainbow is certainly a sign. It's God's promise that he will never abandon us and will always provide for us...

So, keep up the positive thinking and remember that you are pregnant. Enjoy this waiting...I know it's hard. Believe me, I don't go in for my u/s until the 16th and I haven't had any beta except for my first one...so I have no idea what my numbers are...but you know what? I like that. I've been having symptoms and right now, I just don't need another rollercoaster (did I mention my POAS rollercoaster ride??? First of all, make sure you read your test correctly in the first place -- I was having positives a day earlier than what I though...looking in the wrong place in the indicator window! Who knew??). Anyway, my point is...take this week and really enjoy being pregnant.

The doctor saw something and let's be real here...the baby is probably just REALLY too small to see accurately. I can't believe they're doing the u/s that soon! I had a transfer done on 18th, two days after yours and I don't go in for my u/s until October 16th...

Hope that gives you some peace of mind.

First of all, the RE came in and first off was like, "I don't like your numbers..they are low." I was like, "What? You don't know what they are yet, I haven't given blood yet today!". He said he likes to see stronger numbers than mine (last beta 617 at 16dp5dFET) and told me he was concerned he won't see a sac, AND, in fact, is concerned about an ectopic pregnancy. WTF???

So, on to the u/s. Nothing. Asking me, "You haven't had sharp cramps?" I explained that I was cramping slightly and had spotting after sex and he said that's not the cramps or spotting to worry about. He's moving that wand around and still nothing and then...wait...hmmmm...what is that tiny tiny dot? He zoomed in on it and said that he thinks it COULD be an implanted embryo. It's a tiny dot with a white circle around it, which is what made him think it MIGHT be. (EDIT: that "dot" is in the uterus, not outside.)

He then grilled me (this guy's bedside manner has always been lacking) about cramping, etc. I don't think I have any kind of high pain tolerance, so no, I haven't had crazy horrible sharp pains. He then very casually mentioned that it could be a late implanter and that's what we're seeing, but that the hCG numbers should still double.

So, I left there with hope. Until I got my 4th beta: 997. The nurse called it a "borderline rise" and they want me in...get this...NEXT TUESDAY! WTF? You scare the life out of me and then tell me to wait a week? Basically the nurse said unless some sharp cramps and or heavy bleeding happen, there's no need to come in until next week, but if they DO happen, get to an Emergency Room ASAP.

Did I mention DH is away until Sunday?

So...give me some hope ladies! I am feeling very alone and scared tonight.

Kitty - Hang in there!!!! I know what you mean about people lacking bedside skiLLs. I had the most nonchalant person you can imagine call me and leave a voice mail saying my beta didn't rise and stop all meds. Ignore their insensitivity and STAY POSITIVE. No big cramps = a good sign. Hold tight.

Kitty- Sending you grow baby grow vibes and rise beta rise cheers! I agree, that was VERY early to do an u/s... in fact haven't heard of anyone else having one quite so early, so with that said... I wouldn't put too much creedance in what your doc. said. Since they were so 'iffy' on everything, I would call tomorrow and say, since there seems to be some borderline issues possibly, I want another beta test on Friday. Then you can compare Friday's number with today's number! Why should they care if you get another one... it's your money/insurance. That might bring you some reassurance until you go again on Tuesday. How many weeks along are you?

Hang in there sweetie, it is in God's hands, but I sure wouldn't give up hope and optimisim at this point.... remember... it was SOOO early for any kind of u/s. I am almost angry that they had you get one and are now causing all of this unnecessary stress!

Go watch a good tv show/movie, and RELAX!

Heart Thank You

Thank you ladies for your kind words and support (and thoughts and prayers). I am slowly trying to stay hopeful. Of course, now I am thinking...my lower back DOES hurt, I am a little crampy tonight.

Um, yeah Kitty, maybe because your dumb a$$ wore 3 inch heels at work all day!

I will continue to think about and pray for all of you. Please do the same for me (and everyone else).

xoxo,
Kitty

Kitty, Yikes, I'm so sorry your RE was such an @#$hole!! You would think that after working with us sensitive IF women for so long they wouldn't worry us for no reason! You still went up and I thought when they do early u/s all they expect to see is a liitle dot?? I know it's easier said than done but I would really try not to worry. Also, I agree with Sula, can you get another beta in between so that would at least give you some peace of mind that you are still rising. Plus, I've read that if more than one implant at first and then all don't continue to develop, that can cause a dip in the beta rising so maybe that is what is going on. I know this is hard news to take either way and esp when DH is away so I'm sending major your way. I wish we were closer and we could go out to eat (drinks are out for all of us!!)

Also, I have a friend that had her u/s after her third beta when it was in the 300s and all they say and expected to see was the dot. She is now almost 22weeks now!!

Yesi, I'm sorry, I know that bfns are the worst but it really is early still. I'm still claiming that bfp for you!!!

michael, any word yet?

inwoman, not long now till your bfp!!

kjs, your RE only does one beta? Did they say why?

Godiva, how are you my friend?

Kay and Leslie, I know those u/s on the 20th will be just great!! Leslie, how cool you get another beta!

Sula, how are you?

AFM, thanks so much ladies for your kind words. I know it is out of my hands and I'm hoping that all is well. I did feel a little bit of m/s this evening but I just don't know if it's in my head or not. Tonight I also had not really cramping but an extreme bloated feeling with a few twinges. Boobs are still super sore, DH ran over a big bump tonight and I had to grab my girls they hurt so bad!

Ladies, this thread is great and we will make it through supporting each other!!

HCG calculator.... kind of neat~

Normal hCG Calculator Level and Pregnancy Tool#

HCG levels calculator.... I prefer this one to the betabase website! You have to wait til you have had 2 betas to plug the numbers in the calculator, but check it out.... I think it's a great tool!

Life- When is your next beta scheduled? Try not to read into symptoms/no symptoms.... you had a very high first beta... girl, YOU ARE pregnant!

TOY all.... sending prayers, cheers, and hugs to all who may need them!

Kitty: I wonder what city you live in? It sounds like you and I have the same MD. My doc had no bedside manners during my fresh IVF. It was so bad that I even asked to switch my doctor with another one in the practice, however that wasn't allowed. I must say during my FET he was much better. You'd think these people would know how to proceed on such a delicate matter.

Don't worry though everything will be alright. Best wishes to you.
