HRMS- Glad the insurance gave you the go-ahead! I am lucky to have insurance coverage also. I am a teacher and wasn't rehired for this coming school year so now I will be at an indepdent pre-k program and they don't offer insurance so I am doing the COBRA thing so I can keep my old insurance. Otherwise we'd have to wait until May of 2011 when DH graduates from pharmacy school. I don't know what I would if i had to wait that long! Sept is far enough away!
AFM- I know there are others that have had m/c on this thread so I have a ? for you. What happened with your boobs afterwards? Mine are SO huge and today I had some drops of stuff on my nipples after I got out of the shower. They hurt so bad! Anyone want to share their experience?

Hi ladies! I hope to join this group as well. I just got my BFN a few days ago. It was my first IVF cycle. I am devastated. I'm not giving up and hope to jump back in ASAP. DH just gave me th green light to go ahead and plan for a FET with my current clinic or a fresh cycle with a new clinic. We are still debating, but I am thinking FET. AF just showed up today. I will speak with my RE this Friday, and we will go from there.
Just when I thought I learned all I needed to know about IVF from this board, I have yet to learn all I need to know about FET. It's only the beginning...

MissthuynI am sorry for your loss. I know it can be so devastating. You will find that an FET is a lot easier than a fresh cycle. How many frozen embryos do you have remaining? Feel free to ask any questions or to just come here for support. This is a really good group of ladies. A few of them are on vacation and I just had a tooth extracted so it's been a little quieter here than usual, but I'm sure it'll pick back up soon. Tonya

Thanks for the welcome Tonya. I have lots of questions.
I am actually very nervous. I don't know why I got a BFN. I'm 25, healthy, and have gotten pregnant in the past. We transferred 3 perfect embies, and none of them took. I believe we have at least 10 embies frozen. How much different is FET? Is it true that a higher % of pregnancy occur in FET than fresh cycle? Since none of my 3 embies stuck, my RE wants to transfer 4 or 5 embies for FET. Is that a good idea? I mean, I want to see a BFP, but I don't want any more than 2 babies at once. Also, what good is it to do a natural FET? I'm looking into this because I feel that all the medication was harsh on my body. That's just me. I will see what my RE has to say. Thanks!

Hi girls! I finally got some good news and I had to share. I went for an US yesterday and before he did the US, my RE said I was probably going to have to do the embryoscopy again b/c my beta was in the 1300's on Friday. He thought there was some leftover tissue. I started crying b/c I never want to do that again! Then he did the US and found absolutley nothing! He even changed the settings on the machine to look for bloodflow b/c he said there would be a rush of it to tissue if there was any and there wasn't anything! So I had a beta after my US and it had dropped to 502! I know I have a long way to go but from 1300 to 502 in 3 days is amazing. At least I think it is. It's more than 50% drop so if I do that every 3 days I will be at 0 in no time! I am going for another beta on Monday of next week but I will be in Florida at that time so maybe it won't be as bad ; ) We'll keep checking them until it is at 0 and praying that it keeps dropping fast so I can stay with you guys. Waiting until Oct would be torture for me! Also, my RE said that it looked like the placenta wasn't forming correctly and that is probably why I m/c. Anyone heard of that? He said it was probably from a chromosomal or genetic issue but we won't know for sure until the results are in from the embryoscopy. Still another week of waiting for that but time will (hopefully) go fast since we will be on vacation for almost 10 days! DH and I are SOOOO looking forward to it and think we deserve it after everything we have been through lately. I went shopping for snacks and stuff today so it seems a little more real. We don't leave til Friday but I will be busy with other stuff the next few days. Take care girls and I will talk to you soon!
And Welcome Judy! This is my first FET so we can learn together! I hope the rate is higher but I haven't heard that before!

Judy- My RE only does medicated FET so I can’t speak on a natural one, but I can say that the meds weren’t too terrible. I will doing estrogen tabs, estrogen patches and progesterone suppositories. I think it’s a bit of a pain to get all the doses correctly, but I set myself numerous reminders on my cell phone detailing my calendar. I can’t say that I had any side effects from the estrogen or the progesterone. Don’t know if I just got “lucky” in that respect. There were no shots (although, some protocols do require some I believe) and I had fewer trips to the doctor. Overall it was just less stressful than a fresh cycle to me. I haven’t heard that FETs produce more pregnancies, but perhaps that is a statistic at your clinic? I know at my clinic there is an excellent thaw rate and the pregnancy rates are close. I understand your reluctance to allow 3 or 4 embies to be transferred. I would definitely be scared as well. I am surprised your RE would push for that many since you are young and healthy. There’s a good chance your previous fresh transfer just didn’t take. I wish this were an exact science. I’m not even sure if my RE would transfer 4 for me even knowing we’ve been through a failed fresh and failed FET. If it were me and I knew I didn’t want more than 2 I wouldn’t transfer that many, but of course only you and DH know what is best for you and your family. Good luck with your decision. Stephanie- Here’s hoping everything goes as planned and you are still on target for September. Have fun on vacation…and yes--you and DH definitely deserve it!! I hope September is a great month for us all!! Tonya

Hello ladies...I was hoping to join your group as I too hope to have my FET towards the end of September. I had my first IVF last month and ended up with a
. Since then me and DH have moved and I will be seeing a new RE in TX with hopes of having my transfer in September. I was really devastated when I recieved my because I have had a child before and me and DH are both young and healthy, but I guess you can not always bank on that. Also when I had my transfer last month my lining was only 7.3, do you think that had something to do with it? But I hope great things for all of us in the months to come and sending

The only thing my RE had to offer for the failed IVF was my lining, which I didn't think was that bad......but I am defiently glad to be apart of this great support group, because you defiently need support when going through this process.

Hello Ladies
Welcome to Judy and Trena. I know Judy's story from the July IVf board and look forward to getting our together in this thread. I am still waiting for so I can get going with the next stage. I am a bit worried as we have been told our move back to the UK is going to beginning of October and I just wish we had a bit longer after our transfer at September. Will have to hope it all goes to plan and we get no more delays. Its about time we had a bit of good luck I figure! Will be back in touch more when I am home from my holidays, just wanted to check in quickly with you all.

Judy and Trena-
! So sorry about your BFN's... so disappointing! From what I have learned from many ladies on the boards, too thin of lining can greatly effect outcome. Most RE's want at least 8, and preferrably a 9 for transfer. There are ways to rapidly plump up the lining by inserting estrogen pills vaginally a few days prior. You may want to ask about this. This is also my first FET, and I hear from the veterans it's much simplier and easier on your body. Harp- Good luck with your dropping beta... hope it continues its quick decent, however, without too many side effects for you. As you will see in my signature I had the never ending beta drop, it took almost 2 months to get below 5 which is what they want. It was agony everytime I had b/w done. Good luck with everything. I would be reluctant to transfer 4 or 5. My clinic will only transfer 2, (maybe 3 if the quality wasn't that high, but that is doubtful). That would be my question prior to transfer, what are the grades/quality of the embies? That would help you make that hard decision on how many to transfer. Whatever decision you make, will be the right one for you! So good to see our little group growing! ![]()

Hey Ladies!
Thanks for the warm welcome! Hi Nicola! So we meet again! I am pretty anxious to get this started. I still have to talk to my RE this Friday, and I'm sure she will have some answers for me. But since Friday is a few days from today, maybe you gals can answer this for me... For FET, do you have to go on BCP? I see some do and some don't. What about Lupron, dexamethasone? I hate these! They made me sick. Typically, we sit out one cycle after failed fresh cycle right? I do hope to start right away. What is estrogen priming? Thanks.

Judy- My clinic uses BCP, but only for about a week. I have seen some other ladies use them for much longer though. I don't remember my protocol exactly, but after the BCP I started on 2 types of estrogen. I did one estrogen suppository for example on a Monday, then Tuesday I put on a vivelle dot estrogen patch. Wednesday I did another suppository then Thursday 2 or 3 patches depending on whatever my calendar instructed me to do. The most patches I ever had to apply at one time was 4. I find the patches annoying and a little itchy, but just a small price to pay I guess. About a week into it (again not sure of exact timeline) I started progesterone suppositories so some nights I had an E2 and a P4 suppository in. ugh. I didn't use lupron. The only other med I used was the doxycylline near transfer.
I'm waiting for to start...she's due next week before I go in and get everything checked out. I sure hope everything is ok and I get the ok to start in September. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. |
