Hello- I was hoping some FET veterans can help me with this question- I failed my fresh day 3 transfer of 2 grade A 8 and 10 cell embies. We are lucky to have 22 frozens ranging from 5 to 8 cell grade A and B, all frozen on day 3. My question is, is it possible to have 3 day embies thawed and grown out to blast stage, then transferred? I'm a little perturbed that with all the embies we had, a 5 day wasn't offered to us, but when I spoke w/ the embryologist on the day of transfer I asked about blast transfer and they said they do do them. So I know they have the capabilities. Anyone else had a similar situation?

I believe they can. I wanted it done too, since I see a lot more success with 5 day blast. However, my clinic said no, and transferred my 3 day embryos instead. They said that it is better for the embryos to be in the mother's body than grow on a plate. I was bummed, because I wanted to best of the best. Goodluck. If your clinic does it, go for it!

I believe they can be grown to blast depending upon what your clinic says. It wouldn't hurt to ask. I wanted it done as well, but my clinic doesn't normally do 5 day transfers. My last FET my 3 day embryo was thawed and had grown to Morula stage the next day so I kind of wondered why they couldn't just wait one more day, but by then ET had already been scheduled.

Thanks for the info ladies- I plan on pushing for the 5dt but who knows what will happen....I am supposed to talk with my RE next week.
