HSG with FET

Hi all,

We are planning to do an FET in mid-January. Our clinic has all of a sudden recommended that I have an HSG done before my cycle. I had a terrible experience last time I had one (doctor was really rough and quick and it was so painful and just horrible). I didn't have any issues with blocked tubes or anything. I am wondering if any of you have had to or have been told you will need an HSG again for your FET? They said it is up to me but that is what the Dr recommends. Also, we are using a clinic out of town so I would either have to fly there for it or else pay a lot of money to have it done in the city I am in (where I could potentially have the terrible doctor again). Any advice?

I did not have an HSG but a Saline test where they use saline instead of dye and do an ultrasound instead of an X-RAY. I believe it is called a Saline Sonohysterogram This was much less painful than the HSG.

Thanks HRMS Mom - I just clarified with the lab and that is what they are wanting to do for me - the sono, not the hsg. How common is it for someone to develop polyps or something in their uterus anyways? Lots of people get pregnant over and over again and don't have issues so I'm not sure why they think this would be an issue for me when I didn't have issues before? I hate to spend even more cash when I don't need to!

I am having the saline sono done next week with hopes of doing a FET at the end of Dec.

I also had one done before my fresh cycle, and she found an intrauterine adhesion. I had to have that removed before we started IVF. Even though we got delayed, I felt good about finding it as it could have made problems for implantation if it wasn't found.

Not sure how common it is to find something. Maybe I was just lucky.
