Another Chemical Pregnancy (sorry a long post)

I wish I had better news but...I don't. It looks like this will be my second chemical preganacy. My Beta was low yesterday but I was still hopeful. Unfortunately, I started spotting last night -- dark brown. With my history this doesn't appear good.

From what I read there are 3 reasons for chemical pregnancy: chromosonal issues, uterine issues and hormonal issues. My doctor believe my uterus is fine and thinks it could be an egg issue. As we are using donor eggs I just can't believe that to be the case. But if it is wouldn't that be just my luck. I'm ruling out hormonal as I take so many injections I can't see how that could be the cause. SO, I told my doctor I don't want to try any more of the eggs we have until I have a lap to check my uterus. I just feel like I cannot keep putting myself through this for nothing.

I'm also considering adoption. I really just want to be a parent and not that wed to biology. I was hoping to experience it first hand but they may just not be in my future. I would just hate to start the adoption process and then lose another baby.

Ugh...I'm just so frustrated and do not what to do. Please weigh in on your thoughts. I need some opinions here.

One thing I do know, although I'm sad I'm very happy I've had the opportunity to experience the joy of finding out I'm pregnant and living with it for a few days.

I am truly inspired by your great outlook. I wish I could be more like you. I can't understand the whole chemical pregnancy myself. I think that is what happened to me last time since my BETA was a 12 and this time it was 56, but I started spotting last night as well, so as I wait for my 2nd Beta I have already mourned and all of that, so I just am wondering what the heck happened this time, is it too much stress, should I of stayed off my feet, is it my uterus, I need to get a Lap as well, or is it my DH, is her sperm too bad to use, I just keep asking myself, what is wrong here...I have no answers at all.

I think that your on the right track, find out what is going on first then decide if you do use the donor eggs again, They should come with a gaurentee, huh.

when do you have to get another Beta? I hear that brown spotting is better than pink b/c it is old, and you never know you do have. I am going to pray hard for you, okay!!!!

Thanks for the well wishes and support. I go in for my 3rd Beta tomorrow morning. I will be totally surprised if the levels have gone up.

JF5505, I have tons of friends who have had a chemical pregnancy that went on to have multiple children. The one bright spot is the you did get pregnant and the baby did implant. That appears to be one of the trickier areas to correct. I know this does very little to sooth your mind but it is good news.

I spoke to my doctor's office and they do not recommend a lap. They think it is a needless surgery and believe they would be able to see if there was a problem in my ultrasound. I've also had the dye test that would have shown an issue.

It's just so hard to figure out the reason for all this. I know it's there -- it's just hard to see.

Bless you

I can completely understand where you're coming from. I haven't been pregnant yet (beta test is on Monday from a FET), but after 5 ARTs, I know how frustrating it is, especially when you're ready to have a child.

My husband and I are going down parallel paths of international adoption and the ARTs. We decided that even if we get pregnant, we'd still adopt. Plus, I've heard so many stories of women who adopt and get pregnant naturally because the stress and pressure is off. With international adoptions, there's really no way the babies can be taken from you. Most are given legal US birth certificates and naturalization as soon as they hit US soil. It is quite a long process to get the paperwork together, and the time until your referrel, but I know it will be worth it. With some countries (like Guatamala), there's almost no wait.

All the best,
Lori

Yeah, I'm going in for another Beta tomorrow. I talked to my REs office and I've decided to move forward with the remaining eggs and the adoption process.

I just can't see myself getting another donor at this time. I know there are children in my future -- I just wish I could hurry the process along.

Sorry to hear that you think you are once again experiencing a chemical pregnancy. You did mention that you are using donor eggs but I'm assuming it's DH's sperm? You might want to look into chromosomal testing for him. Our RE tested us both after the response of our embryos, it could be one person or both or neither but it's worth looking into. Adoption can be a scary topic but if you really do your research you'll find that things are much different now. Before you sway yourself do some research, ask as many questions as you want. Keep yourself in that wonderful frame of mind and keep us posted.
