Yippy I can finally post some news on my FET! I met with my RE this week and have started on BCP's already...guess I was lucky to be on cycle day 2 when I met with my Dr! I will be doing estrogen patches, lupron, then progesterone shots. My RE thinks we should thaw 4 embies and transfer the best 3 and I agree. Once I am on the progesterone shots (which I did take before with my IVF cycle, ugh, the side effects hit me hard!) about 7 days after the transfer my husband will be out of town for a few days, so I may have to switch to progesterone suppositories for a few days. Has anyone had to do that before? anyone know anyone who had success with the suppository version? I took them on some IUI cycles and I felt like the stuff sometimes oozed out, so maybe I wasn't getting all the progesterone that I should have. I really don't want to tell anyone this time around that we are doing an FET cycle so I can't ask anyone to give me the shot :-( Anyone have any ideas what I should do?

I will start lupron in mid-May, for an early June transfer!!! Sounds like I'm in the same boat with a few others on here...good luck to us all~

Yeah Sunshine State you are moving right along! So exciting When I did my fresh cycle, I switched to peometrium after beta or maybe it was after the 1st ultrasound but everything was great. I know there are a lot of people on the boards that use just the suppositories from the beginning and do just fine. If it makes you nervous, do you have a relative or friend that could give you the shot for those couple days? Or you could get really brave an give it to yourself. I'm not sure I could do it, but I have heard of a lot of brave ladies giving themselves all their shots.

Chrissie5202006. So sorry about your BFN Glad you are moving ahead with the FET. for a huge this time

Hugs

Chrissie-I know how you feel. I just had my first from my first IVF last month. It's huge bummer, but thankfully there are little snowbabies awaiting thier rescue. Good luck on your FET sound like you have a good shot with so many blasts. I think we'll be around the same time, but havn't gotten my schedule. Still waiting for

Hi ladies, I hope its OK for me to jump in here. I'm a little ahead of most of you cause I had my FET yesterday. Reading through your posts I noticed you all have the same concerns and questions I had.
This is my first FET and is a medicated cyce. We had 4 6 day blasts frozen, 2 of really good quality and 2 of good quality. Our RE orginally said he recommended thawing all 4 and transferring the best 3. My DH and I don't feel we could discard one so we were planning on re-freezing the 4th. I was SOOOOO scared that none would survive the thaw. On top of this my lining hasn't been co-operating, it measured just 6.9mm one week prior to the transfer and my RE recommended cancelling the cycle. After some thought and several good reasons we decided to go ahead cause my lining never got to more than 8mm last time either.

Anyway, yesterday was our day and the good news is all 4 survived. #1 was hatching and 100% of the cells survive, #2 was hatching and 95% of cells survived, #3 not yet hatching but 90% of cells survivied, #4 not hatching and 75% of cells survived. The RE saif anything greater than 70% cell survival is good. We asked if we could refreeze the 4th one and transfer 3 but he said the 4th wouldn't survive another freeze and thaw. So, we transfered all 4. I'm not sure if he allowed this just because my lining is a little thin and wants to maximize our chances but I'm not complaining. the chances of quads are slim. I'd be happy with whatever....1,2, 3 or 4 although, I have to admit, 4 sounds scary.

My test date is next sunday. I wanted to just chip in here for some inspiration on the survival of frozen embies. I was so worried and doubtful cause I have come to expect the worst but was pleasantly surprised. Thats an understatement......we are ecstatic at the survival rate.

Good luck to all of you

Nikki

NICALIW-Congrats on the great survival rate on your blasts!!! Hope your 2ww goes quickly. Can you tell me what kinds of meds you were on? I am trying to figure out if baby aspirin is common and if I should try it with my FET. Good luck on your beta next sunday I will keep my fingers crossed for you
Chrissie- don't really know why I posted twice guess I was messing around with this computer too much.

Ryan...thanks for the congrats! I did take baby aspirin....here is the protocol used by my RE:

Start BCP on day 3 of period, take BCP for at leats 10 days.
Overlap with lupron 10 units for the last 5 days of BCP
After stopping BCP continue lupron, wait for bleed.
In day 3 of bleed start baby aspirin daily and 1 vivelle patch. 2, 4 and 6 days later change out 1 patch.
8 days later increase to 2 patches
10 days later increase to 3 patches
12 days later increase to 4 patches
The following day go for US to check lining. If at least 8mm (mine was not) change up meds as follows
Stop lupron
Start prometrium three times daily (suppositories by my choice)
Medrol every evening for 4 evenings
Tetracycline 4 times day for 4 days
Continue patches every other day
Then embryo transfer.

Hope this helps, I went into a lot more detail than you probably wanted, sorry. I'm still on baby aspirin, prometrium 3 times daily and 4 patches every other day and will stay on aspirin for the 1st 12 weeks if pregnant and wean down the patches and prometrium.
Phew.....sounds like a lot of meds......well, I guess it is a lot.

I wish I could get a glimpse of one week from now.....thats my beta day.

bye for now

Nikki

WOW thanks nikki I wasn't aware that I would be going through two af's before transfer O-well I guess it will all be worth it in the end. I think I am going to call my RE tommorw and see if I should come in and discuss what is going on. When I had my failed IVF in march they just told me to call back when my af started to begin the FET cycle so I am really in the dark. And on top of all this I was in an IVF study so I used the drugs prescribed by the study lab and not what my RE would really be using. I like this office so I'm sticken around after all I do have a three year old because of thier help. Sorry to ramble on just had to get it all out I guess. Can't wait to hear about the next week . How are you feeling? Any cramping? I cramped like crazy with my son before I new I was preggers. Definately didn't think there was a baby in the tummy. Hope all is well I've gone on long enough.

Nicaliw. Congratulations on your transfer - hope your little embabies are snuggling in and making themselves comfy Thank you for sharing your info about your meds and especially about the thaw. It really gives me encouragement in our decision to only thaw 2 of our embabies.
Thank you for all the info
hugs

Ryan.....don't worry about waiting for 2 AF's, rememeber the seond one is only a couple of weeks after he first one, so no biggie. AND, you may find out your protocol is entirely different from mine.
I'm not feeling really crampy yet. I wonder if thats a bad sign or maybe its too soon??? What do you think? I have felt kind of an ache like the acheing when your period is about to start but not really cramping. I hope thats not a bad sign. I'm trying to believe this could happen but I'm very disheartened by the fact my doc actually didn't recomment proceeding with my lining of 6.9mm but I've since read that 7mm is acceptable to other REs. Its all so confusing.

Kimmy, thanks for the congrats.....now if the good news can just keep coming.... I'm glad if some of the info I shared was helpful, especially in deciding on how many to thaw. I think I would have only transferred 2 if my lining was better.

Stay positive ladies! ......hmmm, should take my own advice

Nikki I didn't start really having too much cramping until my period was due. I remember telling everyone that it didn't work because of the cramps around my due af. Although my sister in law (no IF problelms) didn't have any cramps and she's had 3 kids sooooo...Who really knows. I guess it comes down to everybody is different. Don't read into what your body is doing right now. Just try to enjoy the fact that you have two little babies in there right now and keep them happy and warm!!

hello ladies, am glad there's more of us now. samantha, am a little confused by one of your posts when u said you're doing a natural cycle and then mentioned your protocal. i, too, am doing a natural cycle, but was told that am not having any meds. when af arrives, i will count till the 10th day. the transfer will be made then (if they see a follicle). so, my confusion is - are there any meds with a natural transfer? my re is not giving me any meds.

otherwise, my april af arrived, but it was 'acting' a little bit abnormal coz it came the 1st day in the morning and didn't come again till the next evening. usually my flow is pretty regular. i figured it was because my body had not yet stabilized after the m/c, so dh and i decided to wait til the next cycle. so...month of may, here we come..

those in the 2ww, am praying for a for you.
