Anyone planning a FET for spring or summer

I was just wondering if there was anyone like me out there. I thought it would be nice to talk about where we are and what we are doing to prepare.

Here's where I am right now. Saw my OB/GYN a couple weeks ago for my annual, and got the ok to go ahead . Today I saw my regular doc for a physical and everything looks good so far. Will get my bllodwork results in a couple days. The only thing I am a little worried about is the TSH level. Three years ago it was a bit high. I also got my referral to go back to my RE. My first consult with the RE is March 21st.

So that's where I am. Anyone else out there still in the planning stages?

Hi there. My husband and I are planning a F.E.T. for this summer as well. We have an appointment with our fertility specialist this afternoon as a matter of fact. I want to get familiar with the protocol, as this will be our first F.E.T. and I have questions to ask her about success rates, etc. We are planning to transfer just one embryo this time, if our doctor thinks we have a great enough chance of success. I am very nervous about this whole process. We were blessed to have success with IVF, and I'm worried that we've used up all of our luck!

Will you be doing any complimentary therapies? When we did IVF I did a combo of acupuncture/chiropractic/massage therapy and I really felt it helped with relaxation/stress and thickening my uterine lining.

Hi CHJH,

I see you have fraternal twin boys too. Aren't they great? My little guys are 15 mos and they are so much fun. I'm currently taking advantage of naptime and just hanging out on the computer, because they wore me out this morning.

When we did our first IVF 2 years ago we were pretty clueless about the process. We go to a terrific RE practice with excellent sucess rates so we just trusted them to tell us what was needed. We didn't know anything about acupuncture or any other supplemental treatments so we didn't do any. It worked so well for us that I'm almost afraid to add anything really. I love massage and get them occassionally but our budget would not allow them regularly. Never tried acupuncture or went to a chiropractor. Do you think they really make a difference?

We are hoping to transfer 2 again. We think twins again would be great. I'm not really sure about the whole FET process yet either, but I am excited to find out.

What month are you thinking about doing your transfer?

Kimmy

Add me to the Spring FET club!
I just found out on this week that my 1st IVF cycle failed. (ugh, now I need to update my signature below!) I'm glad to see that some of you in this forum have had such great success, I'm praying that I can go through the frozen embryo transfer process this spring some time, luckily the only good news I got out of my IVF cycle was 6 embryos frozen. I am hoping that I will only need to take 1 or 2 medicines (in comparison to the 9 I took for IVF) for FET, does anyone know what Dr's typically recommend? And anyone know how it works, would the Dr want to thaw more embryos than are needed to make sure some of them survive the thaw? I'm not sure how it works, I'm new to FET.

Best of luck to everyone! Glad to see we are all in the same boat. Thanks!

Hi Sunshine State.

I am so very sorry your first cycle was unsuccessful. I'm glad you seem so positive about another try. I'm not sure what the FET process is yet - this will be our first. We will find out more next month when we meet with our RE, I suppose. My understanding so far is that you are supressed with BCP & Lupron but then just estrogen and progesterone until your lining is ready for transfer. However I'm sure there is a variety of protocols.
Congatulations on the 6 Snowflake Babies- That is spectacular How many do you think you want to transfer?

CHJH,
How did your appointment go?

As for me I got the call from the Dr office about my bloodwork and everything came back normal. So I am thrilled. The TSH was 5.4 which is within the normal range and down from 8 so yeah me. But it is on the high range of normal so I will have to ask my RE about it when I go. Some people say it should be between 1 & 2 for fertlilty purposes. We got our referral also so that is one more thing out of the way.

Hope you had a great Valentines Day
Hugs
Kimmy

Thanks for helping me to feel normal!!!
I like to see that everyone has gone through a lot of treatment like me on these forums and have been able to reach their baby goals (I hope to be there very soon!)! I'm so glad to see that both Kimmy and CHJH have twins, that's great!

Kimmy, congrats on the normal blood work! Don't you just love it when your Dr gives you normal results, it always makes me feel good. I had used 2 embies during my 1st IVF, and am now thinking of transfering 3 when I go through FET. But that feels like a quick decision because my Dr's have titled me with unexplained infertility, all my tests, bloodwork, and embryos are always great and normal...so what's wrong?

Keep us posted on your FET process, can't wait to hear how it goes!

we just finished ivf 1 and 2 retrievals, and have one frostie from the 1st cycle, none of my eggs fertilized with the 2nd cycle. Don't know if it's my age, or because I got sick with a fever, or just a bad cycle.

Now I don't know whether to thaw our 1, and go for it, or try another cycle (after i find the $$ for it, and convince hubby again.)

I want more to transfer, but think mayb I should just go for it, cause so many things to think about. What if our 1 doesn't thaw? then try again?

Also we have an issue with wanting a girl... not for me, but for hubby to start again at his age, he already has 4 boys. A whole nother issue.

the re recommends not doing PGD with one embie, makes sense... another reason to try again.

I'm debating sitting a month out, to get accpuncture etc and try again.

hugs and baby blessings

J-Lyn. Glad you are thinking of joining us. I'm sorry your last cycle was unsuccessful - that just seems so unfair to go through all that and have none fertilize. Does your RE have any idea what happened?

You have quite a decision to make. You never know that one little frostie might just be that perfect baby you've always dreamed of just waiting to come home to you. You are quite welcome to bounce your thoughts off us as you try to decide if you will do a FET or another fresh cycle.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday. DH is watching the Daytona 500 and trying very hard to get the boys to be interested - TOO Cute.

Hugs

Kimmy,

Thanks for the welcome! My follow up with my RE is next Friday. He said he doesn't know what happened, whether its my age, or if I had a low grade fever... I had started feeling sick with a minor cold a few days before, but nothing bad... but the morning of my tranfer I was really sneezing and my nose wouldn't quit running. Also, I am going to ask him if he thinks the drop in my e2 the day before trigger meant that my egg quality could be compromised. (I read that somewhere)

I just feel like I need to do one more try with my eggs. The RE said not to do PGD on the one, or even if we have a low amount (like 4) if my three would have fertilized, but I read in the brochure that the PGD only has a 1% chance of damaging the embie. that doesn't seem too bad, does it? I know I'll be doing a FET with our 1, but now I dont know when. At this retrieval, he got the 3 eggs and said that my uterus was great for transfer, so we could thaw the one and put them together and do a tranfer in5 days... but then the next day called and said none fertilized, so I fell apart and couldn't do the tranfer of 1 that soon.

This group of women has helped me so much in the time I've been on here. No one understands what we go thru except those who are feeling the same way.

good luck on your FET!

You have your hands full with the twins, HUH? My hubby is watching the Daytona too, I'm on the computer and waiting til the last 10 laps. LOL

Hugs

Janet

Kimmy,
Guess what we have an apt with the RE on next Wed... I'm scared! I hope that you guys check this forum! What did your OB do to figure out if you were "ready"? My RE's assistant said we would have to get the OK from our OB???? I think if we do it, it will be in Summer of this year like I told you before... Gosh that seems so soon!
Count me in on the forum!

Hi Dre I was wondering how you were doing. You'll have to tell me how your appointment goes on Wed. As far as my OB giving the ok - I'm not sure - he just did a regular annual exam and we talked a bit about my plans and my general health. But my guys are 16 mos old so my body has had quite a bit of time to heal, so I don't think it was much of an issue really just a formality. I had GD with the twins, but other than that no other complications, and I did not have a c-section so I don't think he was concerned at all about me wanting to do it again.

Niki I have been keeping you and your DH in my prayers. I am glad you are able to focus on trying again.

Hugs
