If you are doing an FET which it looks like you will be, 3 blasts transferred should be fine. If by some chance you luck out and all 3 thaw great and implant, than looks like triplets! FET's do not have as high of success rates as fresh cycles so they are usually fine with putting more in. I have 4 frozen blasts and plan on thawing all four when the time comes and transferring all of them.

Hello Tam! Hope you're doing better

We have 6 snowbabies and we're hoping to transfer 3, max 4 (even though DH says no way to transferring 4 right now, I won't disgard any of them...but 4 is the max for me).

The transfer will be on day 3, the Embryologist doesn't recommend blasts. But we will have AH (it's actually included with all IVF cycles, unless you don't want).

Good Luck!!

What is AH? How does that work? I am thinking of doing PGD, but not sure if possible w/ frozen embies.

Hi Tam--

I am so sorry for your loss. I also had a m/c last fall (at 8 weeks), and it's a tough spot to be in, I know. I am glad to hear that you have some frosties to work with for your next go-around. It's much easier physically to go through an FET. When are you planning on trying?

In terms of how many to transfer--each RE/embryologist is different, I'm sure. We transferred two 6-day blasts in September (that's all we had). Fortunately, they both survived the thaw. If you have 3, they may thaw them all, then give you a recommendation. If you're anything like me, you're going to want ALL of your embies with YOU!

I also had AH--assisted hatching--with all of my cycles. My RE explained that it helps the embie to break out of the zona and attach in the uterus.

Assisted Hatching

I wish you lots of good wishes on your journey. Please PM me anytime if you want to talk.

CQ/Leigh

thanks Leigh for the information. I am really interested in starting as soon as AF shows her face. However, from my reading that could be 4-8 weeks. I worry about all this b/c I sometimes have gone 3-6 mos w/o a period. It is awful.

My period came 5 weeks after my m/c, however, my beta wasn't negative for 7 weeks. We had to wait until April to cycle again due to DH needing to be on 3 months of antioxidants/testosterone before trying again. Truthfully, November and December seemed to drag by, but once the new year hit, the weeks went by faster. I am sure that you're eager to try again, but at the same time, you should make sure that your body (and mind) are ready for another go! Be good to yourself while you're waiting... I know that it's *really challenging.*

We're all here to support you!

We have 4 snowbabies and are planning on transferring two. We really don't want multiples, so we're hoping that this works out like our IVF - transferring two and one takes. Of course, it all depends on how they thaw!

new question

Hi,
Thanks all of you for your responses. I really want to find out if pgd can be done on the snowbabies. Mine are at blast. I am also trying to deal w/ a bleed that would not stop I am on bcps now. So, wondering if the period I would get in a month would count. Hope it does. I had a dream before I found out about the missed m/c. It was God saying that my other baby was gone and I was on my second pregnancy and the doctor and dh were trying to put another baby in me. They put in the egg and said have sex and I was confused b/c i knew I had one growing already. I just did not know how to calm them down. I also knew that after having lost one I did not want to do this procedure and risk the one I had.

My husband and I are doing PGS through a study out of New Jersey. I think the standard PGS (FISH) is done on day 3. This is where they biopsy the polar bodies of the cells. This only gives you maternal DNA info, and can only test for 9 chromosomes. The new types of PGS are called CGH and microray. Both of these are done on day 5 and they take a cell from the embryo. It can test both maternal and paternal DNA and look at all of the chromosomes. For us they did the biopsy then froze all the embryos. We will wait 6 weeks now for the results before we transfer. I don't know if you can do PGS on snowbabies or not. I suppose it depends on how long the tests take to come back. Can you thaw and refreeze embryos? Good luck, I hope you get your chance!!!!

TamTam - PGD cannot be performed on blasts. PGD is typically done on day 3 of the embryo when the biopsy is taken and sent for analysis. The embryos are then allowed to develop into blasts and only the "good" embies are transferred.

If you are considering PGD, you would need to start a fresh IVF cycle.
