Has anyone done accupuncture? I went today for the first time and was wondering how others experienced it.

How did you feel afterwards?

Did it help you get pregnant?

Do you recommend it to others?

Have you ever done it on yourself?

Did it relax you, energize you?


I am asking because the lady I went to see showed me how to do it to myself. Just the abdominal area which is where it counts...she wants me to do it every other day. She has a good success rate for infertility so I am that it works.....

I did acupuncture with my first IVF. I can't say if it helped or not but I did get pregnant. The acupuncturist I saw specializes in infertility and has had good success.

After the acupuncture, I usually felt fairly relaxed - I usually dozed off during. I haven't done it on myself though she did give me some pressure points for nausea and stuff. You need to be careful with some of the self-treatment, because some of the treatments which are good for before transfer aren't good afterwards. Your needs change (obviously).

One thing that acupuncture gives you - and don't knock it - is a sense that you're doing something to help make this process work. It's nice to have some control when there's little else you can control.

Back in 2004 I tried acupuncture w/ natural cycles. 3 months after I stopped I was able to conceive my ds who is now 3 1/2 years old. I have not tried with my IVF cycles. I am thinking of going back before my FET.

i did it three months prior to my last ivf cycle.

How did you feel afterwards?
i felt an incredible amount of energy during the sessions and very relaxed after.

Did it help you get pregnant?
i believe that the combiniation of acpuncture and bee pollen/royal jelly got me pregnant.

Do you recommend it to others?
highly recommend it.

Have you ever done it on yourself?
no. not sure i would do this as it is a type of medine and you should not mess around with pressure points if you are not trained. could do more damage than good.

Did it relax you, energize you?
i was both relaxed and energized.

I did last year for my IVF and i did get pregnant. I loved it and just did it yesterday after my FET. I feel so relaxed and stress free afterwards. I highly recommed it. The person I saw specializes in fertility accupuncture and i was reading a study in the waiting room that doing it while undergoing fertility treatments increases your chances 65%. I'll do anything to help the odds along.

I had acupuncture, once a week for a few weeks before my ET. The day of my ET I had a half an hour session before the transfer and then another half an hour afterwards.

I felt very relaxed. My acupuncturist was specialized in fertility and on the day of the transfer she did the treatment at my fertility clinic.

I am not sure what made our transfer work. It could have been many factors but all the embryos we transferred stuck

I was so anxious and jittery before my FET, in large part to the steroids for AH I think, that if I hadn't gone in for acupuncture that morning and gotten that relaxation, I'm not sure I would have made it! I was seriously nearing having a panic attack which would have no doubt cancelled the FET.

Relaxed, but I'm not sure if that's just because I was forced to lie in a dark room listening to soothing music, or if it was the actual acupunture, or a little of both.

Unfortunately, no.

Do you recommend it to others?
Yes, because there is good research out there showing that at least having it just prior to and just after ET ups your chances. Doing it more often certainly can't hurt.

Have you ever done it on yourself?
No, and I wouldn't. Acupunturists have years of training and I would not want to risk doing something wrong.

Did it relax you, energize you?
Temporaribly relax.
