Please help me understand

Hello can someone help me to understand what is it when you say you had a chemical pregnancy. What is the difference in chemical pregnancy and miscarriage. I had a beta on my last FET cycle in April of 22 and on next beta 2 days later it dropped to 15 so was that chemical pregnancy or did i miscarry. I hope this isn't a dumb question but i'm trying to understand.

It’s not a dumb question. The answer is probably not going to help you much. People use different explanations for the terms, some use them interchangeably for early miscarriages. When going through IVF you are given hormones that would be present in your body if you were PG on your own, sometimes the test pick up those levels but you are not PG, I would conceder that a chemical pregnancy. Sometimes the drugs sustain a non viable embryo longer than it would have on its own, that can be considered a chemical pregnancy.

IMO both are losses so call it whatever feels right to you.

I hope you find success on your next cycle.

Like mgmsrk, 'chemical pregnancy' is really just a early miscarriage. Some people make the distinction that it's a chemical pregnancy if you test positive for PG but that stops before a heartbeat is heard.
